Ear wax an allergy symptom?

My dad has an allergy to egg yolks. I knew this and held off feeding my son eggs for quite awhile. Ds didn't seem to be allergic, I thought. When my parents were here visiting this weekend, I commented that ds has a lot of earwax. They said, "Oh yeah, your dad had that when he was a child, it was a symptom of being allergic to egg yolks. "

I thought he had excema from the egg allergy. I think that was true, too. My ds doesn't have any excema or anything excema-like...I also thought that egg yolks were less allergenic than egg whites, that the whites had more protein and so if you were allergic that would provoke a greater reaction. Is this all wrong?

Have you ever heard of excessive ear wax as an allergy symptom? My ds is pretty crazy about egg yolks, which we have encouraged him to eat because of their high fat and vitamin A content. He eats a lot of hard boiled eggs and enjoys the yolks spread on bread.

Hope you can enlighten me.

For me, allergy flareups (usually pollen) cause more congestion. More congestion seems to track with excess earwax problems. So I would say there can be a link in some people - but maybe not in others, say if they get mostly intestinal or skin hive allergic reactions?

dd had massive wax chunks comming out of her ears for the first few months of her life.
She also has severe wheat/gluten allergies that we didnt discover until she was 4 months old.

Never thought that there was a connection, but you've got me wondering now....hmm......

very interesting question you've posed

My brother had really bad ear wax to the extent that his hearing was impaired as a child, and it turned out to be a peanut allergy. So it does seem like there could be a connection.
