Sorry, this is a x-post, but I'm in the middle of something and feeling impatient... Can anybody direct me to a quick-n-dirty online summary/factsheet/reference thing on NCLB? TIA!

No Child Left Behind

Here's what the gov't has to say about it (take with a grain of salt):

Here's some alternative points of view (take with another grain):

Now for my personal opinion (take with another grain...):
As an educator, I have grave concerns about the current law. There is currently no or inadequate funding for schools to implement the changes in the law. While I believe in accountability - no one wants an inadequate teacher teaching their children - the Bush administration's emphasis on standardized test scores as the major criterion to measure school success is misguided and possibly dangerous.

Children WILL learn if the adults in their lives are attentive to who the children are and what they need to learn. AND they don't need to pass an expensive test marketed by ETS to prove it!!!!
