I finally watched a circ video :(

I've been anti-circ ever since I found out what circ'ing was when I was about 15. It just didn't seem right to me. Since I've been doing lots of research, it REALLY doesn't seem right to me!

So, anyways, when I came to this board to find ways to get DH on the boat about keeping DS (due 1/15) intact, you guys all gave me some wonderful links.

One of the links was a video. I couldn't bring myself to watch it. I didn't even ask DH to watch it.

Well, yesterday, I got up the courage to watch it. Now, I've seen the pics of the plastibell method, but nothing prepared me for what I saw on the video.

I didn't realize that when they seperate the foreskin and the glans that they move that little stick (or whatever it is) UP INSIDE the foreskin. I mean, it was WAY up there and they didn't even ATTEMPT to be gentle!

I've got DH convinced that keeping our son intact is the way to go, but if he EVER thought twice about it and asked to get him circ'ed, I will definitely show him that video!

It really is disturbing isn't it? I think I went into a state of shock at what I saw when I attempted to watch it for the first time. I had to turn it off, just too much for me. I still haven't been able to see the whole thing.

It is disgusting what people do to babies in this part of the world.

Hi....My husband is still considering Circ, if we have a boy. I don't want this, and would appreciate a link to that video, to put in my "arsenal" just in case it turns out to be a boy-When my son was born, (I was married to a dofferent man), I didn't know enough about it to argue it with him, but I told him I couldn't be there-because I knew I would freak out and want to knowck out the doctor. He's circ'd, and I regret it so much.

Please help me!

Thanks,
Marcie

Yeah, I could not bring myself to watching until recently. I saw the one without the face, You hear the baby and you see what the doc is doing, but that was enough. I saw about 30 seconds of the video. I just can't watch babies being tortured.

When people wonder why I am so "fanatical" about circumcision, I tell them go watch a circ video.

I cant even watch a video, it is hard enough for me to come to this fourm, but I keep coming and finding out more to educate people, but I would be in tears before the video even would start.

so, incredibly disturbing. But it's even more disturbing to think it's happening everyday in all our hospitals. blech. poor children. all I can do is feel good that my little boy has not suffered like that. I have protected him, I have done what I am supposed to do and look at him in my avatar, like an angel, does not know what pain is

i recommend all women check it out while pg; if you can watch the whole thing &/or not bawl your eyes out, i'm not sure there's hope for you.

marcie, just say 'no'. you don't need to plead or persuade.

my dh were doing some post-coital talking last night, incidentally, & i was saying how glad i am to be in this place, in this time. thank god for the feminists who fought for our rights (and the men who willingly shared the power.) that i can *say* 'no' & there isn't jack he could do to make me do something i know to be wrong. i choose to be a sahm, but if i chose to go out & work, he couldn't stop me; and i choose to immerse myself in housewifely things like darning socks & baking bread & bringing him his pipe & slippers when he comes home (if he wore them or smoked, lol), but i have the power to say NO when it comes to protecting my child.

how many women in history have had this power? use it or lose it, ladies. we can stop this abuse in its tracks, if we choose to. i respect my dh's decisions, but that doesn't mean i have to allow him to do something harmful to my children in ignorance.

ps mattema, you were mentioned & i told him how much i admired you you have ovaries, woman. i hope that if my dh was as jewishly pro-circ as your dh is muslim i'd be as adamant as yourself.

Marcie!!

Hi there and welcome. I just wanted to point out one of the "sticky" threads at the top of the forum that is titles "web resources" It has some great info and several vidoe links in it.

Good luck with your dh, I don't envy you this argument.

Take care,
Tara
