Vivid dreams...

I have been taking Lexapro(10mg 1x day) for 3 months now to treat depression/anxiety and am pleased with the results. Once the initial side effects wore off, the only difference I am noticing is that I have extremely vivid dreams and/or tend to recall my dreams more than I did in the past. They are not scary dreams or more negative than usual, just vivid and I always remember them. Before I started taking an SSRI, I didn't always recall dreams unless I woke up in the middle of one. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this as well.

Thanks!

I had this same experience while taking zoloft & also with effexor--though the zoloft seemed to produce the vivid dreams much more so. I am not noticing it as much now, come to think of it. Maybe it was the residual effects from the zoloft during the switchover.

Anyway--yes!--I certainly experienced this. I actually found it somewhat disturbing, especially when parts of the dream came back to me during the day--they seemed so real that it sort of feraked me out. I finally came to realize that I couldn't really do anything about it--short of stopping the meds, which I wasn't going to do. I just sort of learned to go with the flow--went to bed each night & waited for the show!

Maybe it will begin to lessen with you, as well?

Good luck--hope this helped a tiny bit.

I noticed this when I started on Lexapro also. It is totally normal and will likely subside a bit in a month or two. It is a result of the medication working.
