My baby's first trip to the ER!

DH closed the closet door on Ds's pinky finger. It was horrible. I thought I was going to pass out from seeing my baby hurt. We rushed the ER. DS flesh on his pinky was all torn and nasty, and he was bleeding and bleeding and crying soo much! They gave him some pain meds and fixed his finger all up.

My soul hurts though. My poor little love all hurt and crying and sad. His first real pain

We are okay I guess. We hurt bad too. DS is all doped up, watching big comfy couch while snuggling with DH. I'm making dinner since we are all starved. My poor little guy is only 15 months old. I just felt soo bad, that he got hurt. DH feels horrible I think. He wasn't paying attention.

DS seems to be better, he ate some sausage, brocolli with cheese sauce and noodles. He drank a sippy of OJ with probiotics, and I gave him one of his stocking presents early. .a little hot wheels car. So he is loving that!

I on the other hand want to kiss him and hug him all better and never let him go. He just came and gave me a kiss so, I feel better

Aw....that's so hard, and especially when they don't understand why they're hurting. I'm glad he's going to be OK. Poor Daddy, too!

My son fell head first off the seat of a picnic table this September, and I thought for sure by the sound and look of his injury that he had cracked his skull, that's how hard he hit. After a lengthy ER visit, (which was probably as truamatic as the original incident) it turned out he was fine, but still.........
And I was RIGHT THERE, but didn't catch him in time..........

Your son's lucky to have such a *loving & caring* mama!!

oh -I'm sorry. I'm glad everyone's feeling at least a little better now. It's so hard to see them hurt

Glad to hear is feeling better. Kids are so resilient, I think you'll be surprised to see he may get over this before you and dh do!

Oh no! It's so hard to see our little ones in pain. But just be glad you're not the one who did it! Talk about guilt! I shut ds's finger in the bathroom door once. I was guilt ridden for weeks! to you, dh, and ds

Just reading your post made my stomach do a flip-flop. It is the worst feeling in the world to see your babe in pain.
s to you, your husband and your little guy.

Thanks you guys. He slept like a stone last night, and we just changed his bandage, well DH did while I fed DS some orange to distract the two of us!

He is doing really good. He won't move the finger, but it didn't get the bone, and he won't lose his fingernail, so that is good!

First, is everything OK with his finger? I have to post because my ds had a trip to the ER at 15 months also. I get a call at work and it's dh and the call went exactly like this:

Dh: Please don't be mad or anything . . .
me: what happened?
Dh: well we just got home from the emergency room . . .
me: WHAT HAPPENED?

It turns out ds got into dh's squeeze tube of a substance called 'Liquid Nails' that he had in his tool box (this tube has several dire warnings about being a toxic substance on it) and dh found ds sitting there with it on his cheeks and lips--we had no idea if he'd ingested any as he couldn't tell us then. So dh scooped him up and went right to the ER where they gave him juice and observed him--nothing happened so apparently he hadn't actually eaten but the nurses helped get it off his skin which was tricky as the stuff adheres to skin like nothing I've ever known. This led to dh finally heeding what I had been yelling at him for a long time re: putting dangerous things out of ds's reach. A trip to the ER had the effect that all my flipping out at him whenever I found something (usually the nail sissors) that dh had left within ds's reach.

Ds wasn't hurt like your son was so I didn't experience the awfulness of your baby being in pain like that. I can relate to an ER trip though and let's hope there won't be any more for either of us.
