Well, it will heal, it will take a bit though, the flesh on the pad of his finger is all mangled, and his finger is all swollen. He won't lose his nail though, and the bone is fine. soo....

I am so sorry! Your child's pain is really so much worse than your own. Julia smashed her finger once and I almost passed out. Just know your love is the best medicine and your sweetie has that in abundance.

Almost the same thing happened to us when my oldest dd was about 15 months, too. I was at work, at a differest location about 30 miles away from where I usually work, and my dh was home with dd. He shut her finger in the bathroom door, and all but sliced off the top of it. He called me to tell me that her finger was cut, and he thought he should probably take her to the ER. I have never had a longer drive in all my life- all I could think about was that she was hurt and I wasn't there to make it better.

By the time I got to the hospital, they had done the x-rays and she had camed down a little bit, although I could tell she was seriously traumatized by all of it. We had to hold her down so she could ge the stitches, and that was truly awful, and it took forever to put five stitches in that little tiny finger!

The recovery was absoulutely terrible though- I'm glad your'e doing better. They splinted and wrapped her finger, and gave her a child's dose of Lortab for the pain. (She had actually chipped the tip of the bone) The Lortab made her psycho, and she couldn't sleep at night because of the pain. We got the wound checked and the idiot PA wrapped the bandage too tight, so we had to go back two days later to get it fixed, and by then, her poor hand was covered in sores from being wrapped improperly. She had been up all night for two nights straight, and they finally unwrapped her hand, and gave her a different prescription so that she could sleep without pain.

Ugh. I hate these kinds of injuries- it's terrible to see one so little in so much pain. I hope you both feel better soon.
