Kyla Michaelin is here

I doubt anybody remembers me--I didn't post much, but Kyla Michaelin was born November 21st. I am thinking about writing her birth story, but I'm still trying to process everything. The really short version is, after a couple weeks of trying, I FINALLY went into labor on the day I was scheduled to be induced. I was only about 2 cm when I got to the hospital, and they broke my water and started pitocin. The placenta abrupted, and Kyla was in major distress, so I wound up having an emergency c-section under general anesthesia.

On a brighter note, her 5 minute APGAR was 9, she is a beautiful healthy little girl, and one thing we have had no problems with at all is breastfeeding (my first time!).

Congratulations! Be gentle with yourself as you start to process your birth experience. Know that whatever you are feeling is completely normal and there will be days when you are fine with how things went and there will be days when you are angry...and both feelings are okay.

Your daughter is beautiful! Love those chunky cheeks! I am glad to hear that nursing is going well for you. I found that nursing my DS really helped me to heal from his birth emotionally and I hope you get the same peace.

Thanks so much y'all!

I actually wrote my birth story night before last. I hit "preview post" to make sure my tags were right, got an IE error and completely lost it. : So, I'm going to try again over the next few days (except this time I'm going to do it in Word and save as I go!).

Steph,

I haven't felt any anger yet, just sadness for what I feel like I missed. I was fine the whole time in the hospital, I somehow managed to stay calm while everything was going on, and didn't start getting emotional until I got home. I do think nursing is helping. I love having that closeness with her.
