Now that we are either nearing the end of pregnancy or have already had our babies I thought it would be fun to ask everyone what is one thing you learned that you wish you had known before you got pregnant?

Here is mine- The day you find out your pregnant with a december baby (and I mean the day) go do all your holidya shopping while you still feel good. :LOL

Breastfeeding does NOT come naturally to all women. Few these days actually the way our society is. It's hard work and the first few weeks you will want to cry from frustration. But, it's worth it if you can get through it!!

That would be mine too. The first time around, I thought it would be easy since women had been doing it forever and we were built to do it. I didn't realize that most of those women had support from all the women in their community and that it would actually be very frustrating and difficult to find accurate or helpful information.

Mine would be something I realized almost 8 years ago after having ds... crying is THERAPUTIC!!!! There is no reason to think that being pregnant and having a healthy baby automatically means you know how to do everything right, or that you have the energy, OR that you have to give up all of yourself to be the perfect parent to this new, beautiful thing in your life.
Sometimes you just have to let it all go to h3ll, and cry right along with the kids to make everyone feel all better

Oh I also forgot, LEARN TO NURSE LAYING DOWN!!!! :LOL Seriously, I got no sleep for the first three days because I was sitting in a chair nursing because all the books said to wait to try nursing laying down, but after 3 days, I tried it and was finally able to rest!

Things I learned the first time around:

Your milk takes time to come in and your baby will lose weight before it does come in. I was a mess at 4 days, DD was frustrated and I hurt from all the nursing.

Co-sleep and nurse laying down. I got so much more sleep once I figured that one out.

Go to a LC or Breastfeeding Support Group if only for the social aspect of it. It helped me out as a first time mom and now I have a great circle of friends with children DDs age to hang out with and talk about having the next round of babies with.

Enjoy your sleep when you get it, and showers and time to brush your teeth and .....
