When you have to "describe" your program to the school board, and you unschool...

How do you do this?
I know this is a few years in the future for me, but I checked out the Registration form I have to complete each year for homeschooling, and at the bottom, they ask about the curriculum.
They give three choices. Either the program is a) commercially available; b) Nova Scotia Correspondence course (high school); or c) developed by you (If yes, please provide as an attachment a description of the program and how it reflects the essential graduation learnings (provided by the education dept, but not available online that I can find).

So how do unschoolers do this?

Well, they do it by telling the truth in big ole fancy educational terms that satisfy "educrats". It can be tricky but it is definately doable. Here is the way one unschool mom did it:

She puts all that her son has done on paper, but broken down into it's educational components. It really is just like that. Purchases at the store become handling money/home economics/math. Bike riding and games of tag or ball become PE (and group games can also be counted as "cooperative activities") I hope this helps a bit. Oh and taking pictures of any project the child does (anything from building a lego fortress to baking a cake to a garden in the spring) is a good thing for them to see too.
