"Parenting with Dignity"

(I *think* that's the title)
Has anyone read this book? I saw an ad in Parenting mag when I was at the dentist yesterday... I cannot remember the author's full name, his first name was Mac.

Anyway, the ad was deceptively vague and I couldn't tell what it was about. I have a hunch that it might be religously grounded. But I'm always interested when a new parenting "expert" publishes a book.

Anyone know about it?

here's a link from amazon about the book. One of the reviewers says it is as good as Dr. Sear's discipline book...

Thank you for the link.

Sounds like it might be worth a serious read... The ad I saw made it seem like it might have a hidden agenda.

Hey, the author is the father of Drew Bledsoe, cool. I had a huge crush on Drew Bledsoe.

Funny that you got the impression there might be a religious hidden agenda. There's not a lot of info on the book on Amazon. Sometimes they have many, many reviews, this book didn't.

Many of the reader's opinions were positive, but so many mentioned, "I'm not a Christian but I liked the book anyway." or "For a Christian Liberal..." and I saw a review that said the book was being used for their church outreach.

So, I can't tell if there is a religious aspect to the book, but I'm guessing there is. Or, at least the author sounds like he may be coming from a religious point of view, whether or not the book is written that way. Which isn't bad per se, but if that's what you were asking, I'd assume you were right about the hidden agenda. That said, the book sounds good, and was favorably compared to Sears by someone who said to throw out the Ezzo. That's a good reviewer!

I am always on the lookout for books to recommend to people who are Christian and not practicing AP (Specifically GD) because they believe it doesn't fit in with the bible or their church beliefs. I am not a Chrsitian, but I think there is a shortage of Christian AP authors. I know Dr. Sears is, but sometimes people are leery of him because they know his POV beforehand.

I'm not totally sure....but I think I saw this guy interviewed on a morning news show a while back. At the time I was quite impressed. He seemed rational and reasonable...but that was before I became very informed about GD so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

I remember because I heard he was Drew Bledsoe's dad and they came from a town I used to live in. So it stuck in my mind. Sounds like it would be worth a look. FWIW
