When are you sharing the news?

Hi all!

When are you sharing your news with people outside your close family?

I'm curious... We told at 8wks last time, because it was our first, and everyone had been waiting/asking forever. This time however, I'm thinking about holding off till after the holidays or later. This time was an early suprise and although I'm thrilled, I'm still getting used to the idea. (we had plans to build a house next summer and are currently revising those plans).

What works for you? Any advice?

I have already told my friends, but they have known I was TTC since June. It would have been too hard for me not to share the news because I am so ecstatic!!

We've already told close friends and my family, who knew we were TTC, but haven't told Bri's family yet. I was thinking it would be nice to tell his folks at Christmas when they're visiting from FL, so I had to lie to SIL last week and tell her we still don't know - cuz she has a big mouth It's one of those things that I feel awkward just blurting out to more casual friends, though. It'll either go through the grapevine or come up eventually I guess.

Right now, only a select few people know. My beloved, of course, my stbx, a couple of friends, and my bosses at work. We're going to hold off on everyone else until April or May, once we're past all the major risks and the divorce is final...

We're trying to hold off until the spring, too. I have told a few acquantainces, and all of you, but close friends and family will have to wait. It's hard, though, as it almost burbles out of me. We don't have any family close and won't have any friends either since we are moving to another state in a few weeks, so I won't have to worry about showing before we announce the good news. I do have to give some thought to slipping out of giving answers to direct questions.

I took the test at a good freind's house, and another freind was there, so those two knew before anyone else. I'm pretty much telling everyone if the subject comes up- I'm tired and crabby, and more than happy to let everyone know why they can watch my kids while I take a nap. :LOL

I'm telling everyone! Course, all my friends knew I was gone for IVF, and so they want to know if it was successful, so that means telling them it was! Plus for the first few months, I'll have a lot more monitoring, so I'll need babysitters for appointments with my hubby being deployed.

I find it much easier to tell people I hardly know

I was telling my classmates at school when I thought I might be pregnant, but it was still too early to test. School is almost over anyway.

Close family we've told right away, especially since these are the people we would share sad news with anyway.

I want to tell my dd as well, but all of a sudden, dh is concerned about the what-ifs, and how she would handle it. So near-strangers can know, but not my own kid

I haven't even told DH yet! So I guess I will wait awhile to tell anyone else around here... :LOL I HAVE told my mom and everyone at MDC, so I feel like I have people to talk to about it. I just don't want to tell my DH already now since our romantic life has been so much better this fall (ever since I got preg with DS it took a real dive....read: hiatus) and I can't take the emotional stress that goes along with feeling untouchable and getting no affection. I'll let a burgeoning belly tell him later this winter! :LOL

With our first pg, we told right away, but that pg ended in a miscarriage. With DD, we told at 8 weeks - after we'd had an ultrasound and saw the heartbeat. This time, we're having another early ultrasound either this week or next, and we hope to tell our parents and families on Christmas Eve.

We probably won't tell friends until Valentine's day - I'm thinking of sending ecards to everyone from DD, telling them she's going to be a big sister! Not sure when I'll tell at work - I'm hoping not to say anything until at least 12 weeks, but we'll see how things go. They're going to flip, because I JUST got back from maternity leave a month ago!!

With my first pg we waited until 12 weeks to tell most people...then I miscarried at 12 weeks and had to go to the OR...so we wound up telling everyone good news and bad at the same time. When I got pregnant w/S., we just told everyone right away.

So this time we're just telling people as we think of it, really...DH told his mom last night but I haven't told any of my family yet...probably this week. A few of my friends already know.

We've told lots of people already. I just can't contain it, since we told everyone that we'd try to have our 2 close together due to DH's age (he's 40 now), they all sort of know it's out there for us.

But, I won't tell work until someone notices. I'm debating how hard to hide this now... Do I splurge into maternity / stretch pants soon (which is getting necessary), or do I go buy a size up and just deal with it later... hmmmm.

Hello....

a coworker noticed i was pale and tired lately...so I told her...we are keeping quiet. She knows my "history". I do have a Christmas party with the faculty at the school where I teach...and they know I usually drink a little wine. They might be surprised when I bring a bottle of sparkling pear juice to drink!!

We are waiting to tell our families...altho it would be a nice Christmas present. I don't want people worrying about my m/c again. I think I'm going to wait until about 14 weeks since our last m/c was at 12 weeks.

My DH has told a few coworkers...they all know we've been "ttc" for a while now. So there you have it!!!!
