Feeling like a victim of consumerism

So I was at the health food store today looking for some soap, toothpaste and herbs, then I notice there is a Tom's of Maine Package (full size deodorant, small travel soap, lavender wash, and 2 packages of seeds from Seeds of Change) for $5. I needed deodorant, but I can't help that the deciding factor was the seeds from SOC (I think each package is random in mine I got Sage and Chamomile). Was this a good price for everything? Or was I pulled in my this marketing ploy?

What would the Toms of Maine deod have cost if you had *just* bought that? if it was close to $5...just for deod, then i say it was a good deal...but then it sounds like a good deal to me no matter what the deod would have cost alone....HTH!

i do think there is a slew of consumer traps out there even in the organic health market, but if you need deodorant, toothpaste etc, then you need it!

I like to suport my local coops and small stores, although I can usually get that stuff online cheaper.

I do try to make my own deodorant, though

I just got that same thing at my store for 3.98 and I'd be hapy to send you the seed if you want em...I am prolly going to give the soap to a homeless teen shelter.

I'd be interested in the seeds. PM if you still have them.

I bought that same package at my local grocery store (mainstream store, not health food) for $4.69. The deodorant by itself is about $4 around here no matter where you buy it, so I thought it was a good deal. I'll use the body wash every so often, and my husband likes the soap. I'll probably plant the seeds. I only got one package of seeds, though.... cilantro.
