I know of two who were 14 years old when they started their restorations. I also know of a 19 year old who chose to be electively circumcised and first inquired about restoration 19 days later. He had already realized that he had made a grave mistake. Of all of the men I have come across, I probably feel the most compassion for him. He was clearly upset!

One of the 14 year olds was very upset as he learned about what circumcision had done to him. However, his parents were very unsupportive and denied that any harm had come to him or that he had any rights in the decision. It tore their family apart. All three were at war with each other. Definitely not the correct way for a parent to handle a dissatisfied and angry son!

I personally know of a 16, almost 17 y/o who started restoring when he was 15 at the latest (possibly 14).

His parents don't know, and he is currently taking a break from his efforts for many different reasons.

Want to correct the wrong I've done

Long story short, my dh wanted the boys circ'd, he's circ'd. I didn't want this done to my dear boys, but didn't have enough info to support myself and I wasn't the internet junky I am now. I wasn't even the one to sign the papers, I wouldn't do it.

That being said, at what age can one start restoring their forskin? Could I start restoring my 2 1/2 yr old? I think it would be too awkward for my 6 yr old.

I would think that if it were possible to restore a 2 yr old that the result would be very good. The glans are less damaged than those of a teen or adult man, from my limited understanding.

Thoughts...

And how do you get your dh to realize what he is missing? B/C it would be weird for me to start restoring forskin and dh to realize it.

OMH- that is exactly what I wondered about a year ago!! I never got an answer, except more than one person suggested it might be a little awkward, and "the authorities" might have serious issues with my taping my 2 y/o penis up or strapping devices to him!?

A young man could start as early as his early teens and possibly earlier than that. However, most are not going to have the motivation until they reach puberty and many not until they have begun sexual activity. This is a very personal thing and it requires a great deal of dedication, more than most very young men have. It can be very frustrating.


No, it just isn't workable. First, you would have to essentially invent a device that would suit the needs of a toddler and that would be almost impossible. The vast majority of the devices require taping the penis with surgical tape and that tape has to be undone to urinate. That would be impossible with a toddler. They also usually require some type of elastic or weight that a toddler would not tolerate. It must be comfortable and not pull too hard or pinch and there is no way someone could apply one of the devices to someone else so that it would be comfortable every time. A toddler would very quickly rip it off and would be constantly fiddling and pulling at it.


Well, maybe but probably not significantly more. The naked glans hardens up fairly quickly in self defense. However, on restoration, it also fairly quickly softens and becomes more tender and more sensitive. However, on the other hand, a child's skin is more maleable than an adults and the sooner restoration is started, it would seem that it would be completed sooner. For adult males, the time from start to completion is usually about 3 years. For a child still growing, it could be considerably shorter as it could be considerably longer for a middle aged man. No one really knows though.




Yes, it would be weird. I don't think you even want to go there. There could be quite a misunderstanding. The thing you have to realize is that your husband has been denying his body since he learned what circumcision is. He has been denying that there is anything missing or that he could have been more than he is. He's been denying that his parents had anything to do with the final form and shape of his penis. He has been denying that they made a decision that changed his entire sexual life. A man's being and self image is somewhat centered around his penis. It's his connection to you, your children and future generations. It's his maleness and manliness. Some men readily realize that there is just something inherently wrong with circumcision. Some fight it all the way to the ground. All you can do is to expose him to some of the information and see what happens from there. He may readily accept the uselessness of it and he may pass it off as a bunch of internet crazies. He may be somewhere in the middle and if he is, you may be able to influence him. If he is confident that he suffered no harm from circumcision, you may never be able to get him to realize he is missing something he would have valued.

Thank you Frank for answering my questions, I've noted your expertise in the area and I'm very appreciative of your insight. I took a look around some sites after I posted and realized it probably wasn't practical to do for a toddler.

I will just have to at some point explain to my boys what happened and explain there are options if they are unhappy. I feel really badly that my oldest boy's circ is terribly done, really awful scarring. My ds2 has a nice looking circ. Any future boys will not be circ'd period which should help facilitate a discussion with my older boys as some point. And when that time comes I'll be back here looking for help I'm sure.

As for my dh, he is in denial all the way. And he believes there is nothing wrong with circing. I will be fighting him on not circing any future sons we have, my big advantage is homebirthing them. When that times comes I'll have my collection of info to share with him, I have not to this day said anything to him. I'm afraid I'll do it in a manner that would injure his manliness or offend him in some other hurtful manner.

I also need to have a deeper discussion about the matter with my father. He is intact and suffered embarrassment beyond belief as a young teen for a retraction problem. My father was happy that we circ'd the boys and he is intact. So, I need to ask some hard questions to my father about why he thinks this way. My uncle is circ'd -- strange family, my grandfather was intact. I don't look forward to this discussion, it's sort of a red face topic in my conservative family, but I need to know what his perspective is.
