more fleece questions - recycled and chemical residue

Does anyone know of a source to buy small quantities of recycled poly fleece? Malden Mills usually only has one color at a time on their website that's recycled, it's been grey for a while and that's kind of drab. I think EcoSpun fleece is available in a lot more colors, some companies have a variety of garments made from it, but I can't find anyplace where it's available as yardage and not wholesale quantites.

Also, does anyone know if poly fleece is typically treated with chemicals during manufacture? I'm wondering about all chemicals, not just flame-retardants, I've read that most fabrics are treated with a variety of things that leave potentially harmful residue (like formaldehyde), in order to make the manufacturing easier.

Typically I buy organic cotton or hemp fabric, but I love some kinds of poly fleece, and like to buy recycled products of all kinds when I can.

I have no idea but let me know what you find!

No real info, but poly is a completely man-made product, so I would think the entire thing is full of chemicals, kwim? The recycled stuff used to be things like plastic bottles, right? Because of that I won't use it next to my ds's genitals, but I do use it as covers & pants & the like. I also plan to keep it away from ds2's face once he's born -- I won't use any of the soft fleecy blankets in his bassinette until he's several months old at least as I'm afraid of inhalation of all that nasty stuff before his lungs have matured.

This is a really old thread, but I too am looking for yardage of ecospun fleece in different colors than what Malden Mills seems to carry (they have 2 greys and one mustardy color).

Any ideas where else I can get some from?

TIA

Just heard back from the company.

EcoSpun fibers aren't produced any more.

I guess what Malden Mills current have available is all one will ever be able to get!

I want to clarify this after reading the email again.

The said EcoSpun fibers aren't produced by Wellman. Inc. anymore.

Perhaps some other company is producing the same fiber under a different name? I can't be sure, but I'm just putting this out there, since my previous statement was inaccurate.
