*sigh* I really should stop going to other boards...

I won't post the address, but I am trying my darndest to promote intactavism, and it just isn't happening.

"If we ever manage to have any boys we will have them circumsized. Dh and I both agree on this, for several reasons, one of them being this-We don't necessarily believe in circumcision for religious reasons (meaning we don't think a person HAS to have it done) but since circumcision was God's idea it can't be a bad thing."

"Nolan was born in a german hospital and they would not circumsize him their. I could not have him in an american hospital at the time because only military women that were preggo got to go to the american hospital because of desert storm. Then I still could not take him to the american hospital to get circumsized they had to send me to another German doctor that did do them and it took 4 months before it was done because other women had to wait as well."

"I had my son done when he was 1 day old. He never felt a thing and slept right through the procedure. "

"I will get it done for my boy when he's born for hygiene and that he won't remember it now and if i leave it up to him he might not want to for pain reasons. I think its better for him so he doesn't feel different than every other man. There's not many that don't have it done. "

"I had my son circumsiced because of all the things you hear about infection later in life, so we did..........my husband father had to get done at 21 because of infection, so that was my reasoning."

"I know a little boy who was two years old and never had the procedure done. He would leak his diaper out everytime he peed from the time he was tiny. It was a really bad thing not having it. I think it's a neccesity, it has some really good benifits down the road."

(this was in response to a circumcision/ear-piercing thing)
"Well have you ever heard of a woman not wanting to be intimate with a man because he doesn't have his ears pierced? No... But have you heard of women not wanting to be intimate with a man because he isn't circumcised? Yes! That's all I have to say... and yes the chances of an uncircumcised man getting an infection is higher. Why do you think female's get infection's easier then men? Simple...we have more skin, nooks and cranny's down there. Therefor a man with more skin down south will also get infections easier and more frequently then a man who has less. "

(sarcasm)""Oh yeah my parents circumcised me when I was 2 days old and I've just never gotten over it! EVERYTHING THATS WRONG WITH MY LIFE IS BECAUSE OF THAT!!" lmao. "

Hmmm...then I guess we should reinstate FGM in the U.S.

I'm pretty sure women are more prone to infection than men simply because all our "stuff" is in closer proximity to each other. Our urethra is something like 10 or 20% shorter than mens. Also penetration will always increase the chance of infection/irritation. If men are routinely penetrated their likilihood of infection goes up.

Thats why I have a hard time visiting other circ. boards. I get too upset by the ignorance of people.

I dunno. I think we should send Frank over there.

What about posting a post with a list of facts, without actually attacking any of them specifically? Maybe these people posting are beyond help, but some lurkers might be converted.

It takes a special person tho educate people on other boards, I am not that special. :

That's actually not a bad idea....
Or maybe we could organize over here, and send little groups out over there...???
I'm serious...for every poster there are probably 10 lurkers trying to decide.
And as long as we went "out" in groups of at least two, we wouldn't have to worry about being overwhelmed...we could even come back for "reinforcements" if things got out of hand.
Is that like a totally creepy and weird idea?

Would be fun, but would be against the rules. See http://www.mothering.com/discussions...d.php?t=217673

MDC was talked about at this other board a while back, though:

"I was on another discussion board and was led to this link.

Anyone seen this board (which is extremely active btw)?

http://www.mothering.com/discussions...acenta+recipes

I was browsing around for about 20 minutes & found the following:

1.) That yummy recipe for placenta a la mode.

2.) A bunch of people who think it is just lovely for siblings of the opposite sex to sleep either together or with mommy & daddy or mommy & stepdaddy into their teens. (Now I'd be kinda creeped out to find out my boyfriend was still sleeping with his sister or mommy into college.)

3.) A women who is sad that her baby doesn't want to nurse anymore since she started kintergarden & one that was just weaned at age 7 1/2...or 90 months.

I fear for our future."

Some of the replies:
"That is just crazy! I have heard from I don't even remember there that it is okay to breast feed up to 12 years old! You think that kid would be just a little disturbed!"

"I think there are extremes in all parenting styles --this is just a good example."

"I think its way too weird!! Mmmm...soon we'll be hearing of mums breastfeeding their 18 yr olds!!"

"I'm sorry, but to each his own I guess. Eating placenta?? People really do that?? *yuck* Co-sleeping... if there's one time I want time to myself... it's while I'm sleeping! lol"

P.S- I hope that this discussion itself isn't against the rules. Personally, I don't see any difference between saying "OMG! Can you believe what my MIL said to me..." vs. "OMG! Can you believe what this lady on another board said to me..." as long as I'm not posting the address of the other board.

Occasionally I torture myself with a mainstream board. I always regret it b/c it really interferes with my secular humanism. :LOL I always make a point to never mention MDC b/c we don't want those people here. But this certain board, the circ forum there is actually okay and it seems the good guys are winning. Now, their breast vs. bottle forum, well, that's another story. We're losing there. : Basically, we just can't go to other forums if we want to be happy.

I don't think so. I used to post on a lot of different boards but it was too time consuming and now I have pretty much given you ladies an exclusive to my talents. I guess you'll just have to put up with me!

Yikes :

All I can say - those quotes that OP posted sound so-o-o immature and uneducated.

I feel so bad that the majority of people out there think that way...

Ugh. There is absolutely no defense for circ. I can't believe anyone can even say those things. I was anti-circ before ds was born, but now it is something that I lose sleep over every night. Seriously. Every time I change my little man's diaper, I am so thankful that he's intact. He is so perfect and beautiful. I can't imagine how a mother can hand her baby over to have his perfect little body mutilated. It makes me sick. At dd's preschool, I heard some moms talking about their son's circs. One mom was saying how horrible her baby's penis looked. This was a few weeks after it was done. Another mom mentioned that her baby just bled and bled after his. I almost had to run to the bathroom to be sick. I just can't imagine putting my baby boy through that. I just love him so much and have an intense instinct to protect him from any type of pain, physical or otherwise.

I imagine this mother had no idea of how much danger her son was in. Ryliegh McWillis died of loss of blood after his circumcision. While the parents were concerned, they had no idea that the loss of as little as two tablespoons of blood in a neonate can cause the organs to start shutting down. That's what happened to Ryliegh and he did die. The truly scary thing is that disposable diapers are so absorbent that they can hide the true loss of blood by absorbing it into the diaper so that the bloody spot is much smaller than would be expected from that amount of blood and the parents never get a heads up that anything is wrong until the child becomes lethargic or worse from blood loss and it is then often too late to save the child.

I have found a really good reason!!

Geez...you guys never told me that could happen...

I am going to do it now. I don't want to have to clean up any pee or heaven forbid, wash laundry.
Well, you know, my circ'd nephew pees out of his diaper everytime he goes. Maybe we should just cut the whole thing off, that should solve that little problem.
