I'm almost finished!!

I'm making this chair for my ds for christmas http://store.sewingtoday.com/cgi-bin/mccallspatterns/shop.cgi?s.item.M9665=x&TI='9665'&pageNum=1
and I'm almost done! Yeah! I've been having a hard time finding time to work on it and I'm so relived to be be almost finished with it. It's turning out really cute and I'm so excited to give it to him on Christmas morning...I just hope I can wait!
I just wanted to share my excitement! Anyone else nearing completion on their Christmas projects?

(I can't seem to get the link to work...if you want to see the pattern it McCall's #9665....sorry : )

I just copied and pasted and the link worked. That's adorable! I didn't know you could actually make things like that! (well, ok, *I* couldn't :LOL)

I'm getting there too I panicked yesterday after the kids came home from my mom's, but then we got the other Grandma to do some babysitting today and I sewed for 3 hours (my aching fingers!) and am in a better position now!

During the week I'm going to work on the grown up gifts (finish the "pillow cases" for the rice bags, finish SIL's scarf and start BIL's). Next weekend we have the final babysitting (4 hours on Sunday) and I want to finish the kid's things. All I have left is to sew the hair on one rag doll, make clothing for both dolls and hem two kid's capes. Of course, sewing hair on a rag doll turned out to be a lot more of a PITB than I thought it would be, :LOL! That and embroidering the faces on both took a good part of the 3 hours today.

Whew! As dh said to me today "when you decide to make all your Christmas gifts, you *really* should start before December" :LOL

The chair is actually pretty easy...It's actually a cover that you stuff with pre-made pillow forms that you can either make or buy. It's pretty good sized...a little bigger than I thought it would be.
I read your list of Christmas craft projects...I'm impressed! I didn't start on my projects until the end of November...not doing that again next year. I'm starting to work on stuff for next year right after Christmas (yeah, right!)
I have the rest of the chair to finish up, half a scarf to crochet, heating pads to finish up and I have napkins and placemats I haven't even started yet. Not to mention the dozen cloth pads I promised my 3 sisters. I'm have to make an emergency trip to Wal-Mart (ick) to grab some things I forgot...cotton batting, poly batting, more fleece and more flannel...things I forgot on my last "emergency" trip. Ha!
I have to get the sewing done before I can bring the Christmas tree in....it's been sitting on the porch.

I had no idea that you could make something like that either!

Nathan saw a chair just like that in a baby store and it was on clearance for $80. He sat in it for so long and loved it but no way could I spend $80 for it! We looked at Walmart and their flimsy little chairs weren't very nice so I didn't bother but this looks very nice! Tell me how your son likes it, if he loves it I'm making it!!! I've already put that page in my favorites!

Oh and I was hoping to have all 9 diapers done by Wednesday for shipping and I have all 4 left to assemble (they are cut out already), I assembled two last night so it's do-able but I still need to do 7 inserts! As long as I work a few hours each day they should all get made.

Oh and for motivation? I sew to Christmas music and imagine my "needies" opening their presents!

Jenn...I just wanted to tell you that my ds has already had so much fun just playing with the pillow forms. I had quite a bit of fabric and polyfil left, so I've made him and big pile of different shaped pillows. I've spent about $43 total ($28 on fabric for the cover, $10 on polyfil, and $5 on muslin for the pillow form). I could have bought cheaper fabric for the cover...I had planned on using corderouy that was on sale for $3/yd but ended up buying something $7/yd.

I wanna make that chair too. I wish the pillow forms weren't so expensive. I think i will eventually do it for him though. Right now milo doesn't have his own room, but we have one waiting for him (now it's called the dog room b/c the dogs like the bed in there, lol) and i'm planning on doing all of the "decorating" (we'll see how much that is when the time comes). Anyhow, I think the chair would be great in there.

As for finishing xmas gifts... lol... in my dreams. My little sweetie has pretty much made sure there won't be any sewing or knitting going on in this house. I signed up to make some dipes for a family through that mdc thread and i've been freaking out about it. I had said i'd do two aios and send along a couple of gently used fitteds, but since then i've had all sorts of ideas for things i want to do to make it a fun package, but i'm really having to scale myself back. Last night, finally, i was able to sit down and sew and i got 70% done with two aios and i'm going to make two pairs of fleece pants to wear over the fitted. I'm hoping to get it out tomorrow. For ds, i think i am only going to be making him a stocking (was almost done, but made a terrible mistake and now i have to rip a bunch ) and a wool ball. And I'm making mil a hat if it's the last thing i do.

J.
