question about fleece pockets

I saw on a website a few days ago i think it was diaperpages.com an idea for making fleece pockets in a rectnagel shaped... the size for stuffing in a folded prefold and laying it in a cover. ANyone here try that? It soudns so easdy and the fleece would be all that was touching dd's bottom which is a plus for me... does that dound like something to try? Or should I just try to make one with elastic and all that?

I think JenninSeattle has done this. It is REALLY easy - no hemming, no elastic... three seams, stuff and go. Plus you don't have to worry about the fleece shifting out of position. Go for it!

i am not sure i understand the concept. she says she likes windpro but buys fleece from joann's -- is it regular fleece (alpine or whatever they call it at joann's) or microfleece? is the point to keep wetness away from the babe or to keep it from leaking out to clothes and bed? or both?

The point is to keep the moisture away from the baby. It's a nice way to put fleece on a doulber/prefold-doubler without the shifting that you can experience with a fleece liner. I bought 3 from SugarPlumBaby and frankly only used them a couple of times before selling them as FFS. They looked EXTREMELY easy!

Now to the more important question, why didn't I use them more? I just didn't need doulbers at the time and by the time I did I'd phased out fleece! Overall the concept and was great and would have worked well if I'd needed them.

I like Windpro for the cover (which keeps the moisture off the sheets), and I bought the fleece for the pockets at Joanne's (and that keeps the moisture off the baby's skin). Hope that clarifies things

Thanks Karen. I just clicked on your diapering page again and i always get stuck there for ages. So much great info. I read most of it when i was pregnant, but there's new stuff. I think I'm gonna print it all out for my preggo friend who has no internet access from home (by choice!).

I have been using joann's fleece to make pocket aios w/ their alpine or anti-pill for outers and their microfleece for the inner, but their micro is terrible! It looks good for a little while, but is shot after about a half a dozen washes. So i'm wondering if i can make the whole pocket out of the regular fleece. Sounds like it. I think i'll go ahead and try.

Would this work?? If the fleece is water repellent, that's great for the cover, but if the pocket is made from that the pee will be rolling around inside with nothing to absorb it.
