Planters warts?

I have 3 small ones on the pad of my left thumb -- and they are driving me crazy! Feels like I have glass trapped in there -- and I can't stop picking at them with my index finger. Anyone know how to get rid of these naturally? I'm still nursing, so I don't want to anything toxic into me.

Also -- any clue as to what causes them? Extra exposure to moisture, maybe? Hmmm -- these may have creeped up SINCE I started using cloth diapers exclusively with dd -- so I am ALWAYS washing something. Maybe that is it?

they are caused by a virus that lives in your body.

they are so painful. they only thing I have ever learned of that clears them up is either going to the doctor and having the outside of the wart shaved with a razor and the inside froven with a chemical...OR... to apply compound W then put the planters wart removing pads over it (both from the grocery store) this has to be done daily for a week or so. it is not all natural but it works well.

They're only called Plantars warts if they are on the foot, especially the plantar or bottom surface. Otherwise they're just plain warts. According to DD's ped, there are over 300 viruses that can cause these.

There's a homeopathic/natural type remedy you can get by prescription called DDG. Its' sugar based adn comes from formulating pharmacies(one that make some of the meds on site). We used it directly on DS, when he was still nursing occasionally. Logic for the most part dictates that if you can use it on the child, nursing will be a non-issue. Most topical treatments are really not a problem either from what I've read.

Other means of treatment include freezing it off, using an acid product to burn it off--both done by doctor from my experience. There are prescription meds too, but those, despite my logic statement above, are pretty heavy duty. If I had a baby nursing, I might even put off using the one being put on DD's 3 days/week. There are OTC remedies too.

From the thread I started about DD's wart:
The duct tape treatment of putting a piece of duct tape on the wart.
Putting salt crushed aspirin under the tape are variations.
Putting a slice of fresh garlic on it. We've varied that by rubbing the freshly cut surface of the garlic clove on the wart.
TTO might help.
Visualization to get your body's own defenses to kick them off.
Oregano oil? If you find a source for this, let me know please.

None of the above seem to me to be problems while breastfeeding.

My oldest DS has a MONSTER of a planters wart. I think it has a mind of it's own. We did everything natural to get rid of the monster. Instead it has just grown. Really this thing is HUGE. I should take a picture. They usually will go away on their own within 2 years. We were going to wait until I took a look at it yester. It's almost covered his whole heel. I'm convince that he picks and picks at it, even though he says he doesnt. I made an appt with the Family Dr and I'm going to have them shave it off. ::shivers::

We get them all the time...feet, hands, knees.

Sounds weird but covering them with duct tape gets rid of them.

google the words "duct tape warts" and you will come up with info.

Actually, the worst thing you cando for a plantars wart is to pick at it, or do anything to damage the outer part. Because this will only make it grow more. Dd just got one on her foot. It keeps getting bigger because I think shepicks at it. She is very cute about her feet- she hates to have anything in her toes, dirty feet, etc.:LOL
I heard putting the inside of a banana peel works, and cutting off oxegyn with tape too. We also have the little band aid thingies with stuff on them . I am trying to keep putting treatment on at night when she won't pick at it.
Good luck!

Well, mine went away a while ago. I'll definitely try the duct tape though next time -- if there is another next time.

BTW, I realized how I got them! I had accidentally stapled my finger -- pressed a staple STRAIGHT into my thumb, and that caused a couple tiny holes. I poured alcohol on them and wore bandaids -- but I think infection set in.
