How long should I make dolly sling?

Hi,
I am making my 4 year old dd a dolly sling. It is almost done, but I am sure it is way too long. I want it to fit her for awhile. How long should it be? It is a surprise for Christmas, so I don't want to try it on her.

I think I make mine 52 in in length. Then it is plenty long enough for a good tail and for the fold over for the rings. When I get a chance, I'll double check by measuring DD. I'll post again if this is the wrong measurment, but I'm pretty sure 52 is about right. Good luck and have fun making the sling.

I make mine the width of the fabric, as it is usually a scrap from making a momma sling. It works out perfect that way, because then I have a matching momma and me sling set. If it is to long you could always tie it up so that it doesn't drag, but I haven't encountered this problem yet.
