Any natural treatments for dandruff?

I get dry skin in the colder months, with eczema on my legs and terribly itchy dandruff on my head. The eczema is itchy but I quell it with Solarcaine : when I want to scratch my skin off. I can't put Solarcaine on my head though. Does anyone have any good tips on how to deal with the dandruff and stop the unbearable itching?

An apple cidar vinegar rinse should help remove any of the flakes and dead skin. Steep 1/2 cup of fresh mint (or 1 tablespoon dried) in 1/2 cup acv and 1 cup boiling water until it is cool. Strain out the mint leaves and use the remaining solution as a final scalp rinse after shampooing. Rinse with cool water. I have also read that a aspirin (salicylic acid) used topically can be helpful in removing flakes and relieving itching. Crush 10 tablets and mix with 1/2 cup olive oil. Massage into scalp for 2-3 minutes and let set on scalp for another 5 minutes. Rinse well with cool water for at least 1 minute. Shampoo and rinse well. Because aspirin can be absorbed through your skin don't use this if you are pregnant.

I use a shampoo called 'Everclean' by Home Health Co. It has tea tree oil and other ingred. that help greatly with the itching. I have recently discovered that when my candida issues flare up the dandruff itching gets really bad and then i had someone tell me that dandruff is another symptom of candida!! not sure if this is true but it sure makes sense for me. :

from the inside out, i've had success with: cutting out flours and sugars & make sure i was getting the right fats, and all the omega 3 fatty acids that my body needs. http://www.westonaprice.org/askdoctor/ask_dry_skin.html this article may have some pertinent information. also, have a look at this article about vite D http://www.westonaprice.org/nutritio..._vitaminD.html and this one on cod liver oil http://www.westonaprice.org/nutritio...dliveroil.html

from the outside, i've had success using tea tree oil on dandruff. i added it to the shampoo that i was using (just a drop in the poo that i was using that day)

I second the Tea Tree Oil. I put a few drops in distilled water and put it in a squirt bottle. I use it on my scalp, and I used it on the scalps of my Chicken Pox heads of my kids. They loved it! It cooled their scalps and they loved the smell. DH refuses..he says it feels tingly on his head..but he's okay with using Head and Shoulders..uck! :LOL

I agree, tea tree oil. Don't put it on your head straight though. Add it to your shampoo or add to water and use as a rinse.
