Any nursing mama's here?

I thought it would be neat if we could share on a thread Julia is 18 mo and I am 5 wks pregnant. At first I thought nursing while pregnant was fine, BUT the nipple soreness and Agitation are increasing exponentially. Plus I think my toddler senses something is up (and dislikes the decrease in milk), and at naps and night will get in a funk where she nurses continually. She has NEVER done this before. DH has been taking over for me so that he can get her back to sleep - otherwise with me she will just cry "nurse" until I nurse her for forever

We've just discovered that we're pg too! Abigail is only nursing once a day. It was twice, until a couple of nights ago...

I don't know if she's going to continue to nurse or not! She's 15 months old...

Max just turned 2 and is quite clear when he wants to nurse. The problem is that I feel conflicted about it. I really feel that if I don't wean him soon, well . . . it just seems that he'll nurse forever. I know that usually doesn't happen but his brother weaned at 20 months and it was a smooth process but there wasn't this same "demand" for the breast. Max comes to me and says "nurse" and when he's done he says "all done" "switch sides". It's cute and sweet sometimes and sometimes it just makes me feel a little too much like a milk machine and I'm not thinking that I could do tandem nursing. We're down to 2 nursings a day - at bed time and first thing in the morning. So far our problem is my mental state with it, the pain hasn't gotten too bad yet (of course I've nursed now for over 3 1/2 years -- they're not particularly sensitive ) Hopefully we can all find a way to be fair to the loves in our bellies and out! I've got to go water paint.(That would be with the loves outside of my belly!)

Still nursing here...my DD just turned 2. She is night-weaned (but not happy about it, lol) but still asks for "mulk" during the day. So far I still have milk and am not hitting the ceiling when she nurses, so I'm just going to let it go until one of us doesn't want to nurse anymore.

I used to post on MDC all the time but drifted away...now I'm back! Just found out last week about being pg with #2...kind of a surprise but a good one!

I'm still nursing, although my DD is younger than most of yours, it seems -she's just 13 months. We'll keep going as long as it works for her.

! The buggle is 15 mo and a nurseaholic. Not too interested in solids so let's see how this all pans out!

DD is only 12 mos, so we will see how this turns out, in past pregnancies I have notbeen able to keep milk supply past a few months into the pg : I am willing to do anything this time!

I have extreme breast tenderness already, its like nails on a chalkboard when dd latches on. Someone tell me this will be better soon! :LOL

We're still nursing and DS is going to be 3 on March 21st - so that makes him 2 3/4 or so, I guess.

I'm a little perplexed bc I still have no MS and no nipple sensitivity. With DS I had the worst MS. Not that I want to go through that again, but it would be nice to have some indication other than a lack of AF and 3 positive pee-tests.

I might have a reduction in milk-supply, bc DS seems to nurse continuously all night long. He had finally gotten to a point where he would leave me alone for 3 hours or so. I'm so tired, and I don't think it is from pregnancy, just lack of sleep!

: I'm new... this is my first post here... I have a 25 month old son and just found out I'll be having baby #2 somewhere around 8/19. I nurse him 1-2 times a day. No problems so far!

Hello I have a 2 1/2 year old little guy. We still nurse just before bed, however, it's about to put me through the roof though, so he is good about only nursing just a bit. Not sure what will happen, if he'll quit, or keep at it--he tells me he'll be done when he's 3, which is a month before the next little punkin is due to arrive!

My little guy is 12 months. He knows there is something going on with his milk, and he doesn't like it!!! He snack-nurses throughout the day fine, but mostly eats solids, but at naps and at bedtime, nursing is a must. My milk is usually gone by the end of the day, so he's been really mad at me- won't let me rock him to sleep, only daddy. I think the milk is coming back a little though, so I'm hopeful. He loves to nurse so much, I would like to continue a little longer.

Happily, my nipples aren't bothering me.

My 16 mos. ds is still nursing quite frequently. He was pretty sick a couple weeks ago and was basically nursing exclusively again. He has suddenly take a greater interest in foods, though, and acts funny at the breast. I don't doubt that I have milk. (I breastfed my first son halfway through my second pregnancy and weaning was more my idea than his.) I would really like to keep my tot at the breast through the winter, but am fine with whatever happens.

My ds, who is 33 months, nurses often/24hours - in fact, probably more at night than during the day, especially if it's an active day. I'm wondering if he is keeping the milk supply up by nursing more than usual? He usually says there is no milk the week before AF, but he hasn't been complaining for the past month or so since I found out I was pregnant. During the day he usually nurses every 2-3 hours or so, but it has gotten a little less in recent weeks. And he has started to eat more food. Don't know if this is his age or my pregnancy.

Nursing my 14 mo DS....

Lately, it has been like YIKES when he latches on. He definitly senses something, and he too is nursing all night, constantly, but it seems to be fussy nursing instead of comfort nursing. I know there's milk, but it's less I think, because he just keeps switching sides and never really seems to be content when finished. It just makes me feel so , b/c I really enjoy nursing him. I just pray that the milk holds up t/o the pregnancy, b/c I just feel that if it doesn't, I took something truly vital away from my babe.

And my right nipple feels like razors ripping through it when he nurses. Left isn't a problem. It doesn't help that he's teething, so his latch tends to be more "teethy" if you KWIM?

Good Luck Mamas!

Oh yes... 25 month old son is still nursing, usually twice a day. I night weaned him a few months ago because of tooth decay, but I've definitely been getting more sleep since then! I don't know how much longer we'll bf, but I have to say I hope we wean before baby #2 is born. No nipple soreness or anything yet.

BTW, I'm out of the running. I forgot I was subscribed to this thread.
Well, that might explain why my milk never dried up.
Anyway, good luck to you all, and happy holidays.

Just found out today.

DD is 30 months. Nursing at wake up, once during, the day and night. Sometimes only at night.

I've not noticed anything yet but am concerned as last time I had a really early loss and am concerned if her nursing increases it might happen again.

Still nursing but not as much..

My DD was nursing for nap, at bedtime, a couple times at night and several times during the day. About 6-8 times all total. Well we started nightweaning, or cutting down at night a couple months ago.

Found out we were pregnant Friday, so this weekend we have started the "don't offer, don't refuse" kind of weaning. It is going great. Saturday she asked to nurse twice during the day and twice at night, same thing sunday.
Monday she has only nursed once and that was for nap.

So far no sensitivity but it may come and I didn't want to go cold turkey on her. SO i feel our cutting down to a couple times a day is a good compromise. I am sure I can tough it out for 1-2 times a day.

I'm a nursing pg mama too! I'm 8 weeks pg and my DS is 8 months old (so far the youngest?!?) and is nursing twice a day on the days I work (EBM and sadly, formula while I'm away) and nurses 3-4 times a day on my days off. I've noticed a huge decrease in my supply and there are times when DS refuses to nurse (which breaks my heart into a million little pieces ) - in addition to my supply issues, it has also become fairly painful to nurse....I'm hoping to be able to continue nursing throughout my entire pgy...but am taking it one day/one feeding at a time.
