Well it wasn't as difficult as I thought

My son is uncircumcised and I was worried about how I would teach him about foreskin care. Daddy is uncircumcised as well but since he is at work all day its logically me that ends up with the majority of these discussions. He hasn't let us bath him (we sit with him) for a few months because he doesn't want us touching his penis or his bum (we had the whole your body is private conversation and he took it very literally! ). Anyways I didn't know how we would know if it was retracted until I noticed the tip of his foreskin was getting red. I told him mommy wanted to check and sure enough its partly retractable. So I just straightforward told him what is was called and how to clean it. He sat there for ages laughing about it because he thought it looked funny when the foreskin retracted. But anyways it was not that hard of a conversation. And to think some people circumcize just because they don't want to teach or worry about foreskin care. My kids don't like to wash behind their ears either, I guess I should have them removed.

It's crazy, isn't it? Most natural thing in the world.

(pun intended)

Shawna, yep, it's easy but there is no rush. Just like little kids don't need deodorant until their bodies start going through puberty, there is little need for any maintenance in the area until puberty. If he wants to retract and rinse, that's fine but if he doesn't do it for a few days (or a few months) it's going to make very little difference and will cause him no harm.

I know what you mean. I'm thinking of having DS' butt removed so he'll never have to wipe himself.

oooooh! that's a good idea! Then I won't have to wipe it either :LOL

ITA w/ Frank. My guys tend to play with thiers enough during bath time that I don't think there's any concern at all.

As my boys got older I taught them to retract as far as comfortable and then dump a cup of water over it. They say it feels good.

I think also it means that you have to teach your boy to handle his parts Which might help them discover how much they just love touching them. LOL
