Which Mama Cloth?

Alright so last cycle I tried out mama cloth, but I don't have enough for a full cycle so I still have to use some disposables. I didn't really like the fb's mama cloth they just didn't seem wide enough for me. So here is my question, which mama cloth should I try. I have at least one to two days of very heavy bleeding so I need something with good absorbtion. I like the fleece top on the fb's pads as it seems to not stain and it feels nice against my skin. I would kind of like to try hemp, but it isn't necessary. Most of all I want no leaks, something with good coverage, that stays in place, and is cheap. I don't have very much money to spend as I already spent it all on dipes for ds. : I would also like something that ships fast as AF is due soon. Is that way to much to ask for?

My favorites are Pandora Pads. I once wore the regular size for 15 hours of medium flow while sick in bed, and it did not leak! They are very absorbent. If you are really "gushing" it does help to shift around every so often so you hit different areas--that is true of any pad.

I recently got some TLC Pads. The pantiliner ones are great, and the maxis seem very well-made, but I won't be able to try them out for another couple of weeks!

About fleece tops: I personally am disturbed by the idea of synthetic microfibers next to my (or my baby's) mucus membranes. As far as I can tell, having done some research myself and asked about it on these boards, there has been NO research as to whether microfleece is safe. I have not had a lot of staining or comfort issues w/cotton flannel; I think it's really pretty good and certainly a lot more comfortable than disposables!

Thank you for your info. I decided to try the TLC pads. I have some snoogie snaps ordered, but they won't be making them until after January which is just too late for this period. I never heard that about microfleece. Now I am worried about Ds's pocket diapers. What about fleece AIO's and blankets, or is it only microfleece?

Dina has some in stock I prefer flannel, yes it stains but it's not synthetic and it's still soft.

I am more concerned about microfleece than other fleece because of the smaller size of the fibers. It's the tiny fibers of rayon that are thought to make it more dangerous (higher risk of TSS and cervical cancer) than cotton in tampons. Of course, a pad or diaper is not going inside your body, but it is next to delicate skin.

But just to clarify, I have not found any evidence that microfleece ISN'T safe...it's just that I haven't found that anyone has studied whether it IS safe. Cotton fabric, however, has an extremely long history of being used safely for underwear and diapers.

Just wanted to add that I have TLC pads (I used them last cycle). They are very versitle and clean well. In retrospect I wish I'd tried one of their AIO's too because I'd like to be able to re-fold the pad so a clean side in next to me for a while. The pocket pads are nice but I've always hated stuffing so that's my only complaint. They did come very clean though which is the point. Oh and I wish I'd have gotten a longer size because 9 inches shifts too much for me.

I love www.sweetcheeksdiapers.com - they don't have wings, but they slide less on me than the kind with wings do! Check em out. They do come from CA, but it usually takes just a week to have them in hand

I used some of these last cycle and while they are beautiful I missed the wings. I know she said that the wings just wick the moisture away, but they also keep the pad in place and out of your butt!

eeeen-teresting! I love my sweetcheeks pads. The kind with wings seemed to add bulk and height - kind of shoving the pad up into me.

Part of me just wants to ask: How big is your butt? , but I'm afraid you might ask how small is my "me"!

So, I'll just say that I'm small-boned and narrow hipped. I'm thinking maybe the difference is body type. But maybe it's activity level. I work in an office all day, so I'm pretty much sitting on my butt. Really, I'm just trying to get a feel (ick no pun intended) on what types of pads work with what people. Kind of like they do in diapering.

I'm SO SORRY. I'll quit this post now.......

BIG

Really, they seemed fine overnight but it was the daily activities that made them shift.

ETA that these are the overnight ones not the regular.

I have a BIG backside - and everything else for that matter. I find the ones with wings shift backwards on me with activity. I also work in an office, but just walking to the bathroom makes the ones with wings shift on me (friction?). SO, the sweetcheeks are the solution for me (but I have only tried the pantiliner size...the longer regular ones may be different).

I really like my sweet cheeks pads. My experience is limited but the winged ones that I tried kinda walked their way up the back and were uncomfortable and useless. Sweet cheeks stay put, don't bunch and are trim. (I was very skeptical when I ordered them). A simple adjustment as you pull your panties on is all it takes.
