to mix yarns?

i have a pattern (crochet, if it matters) that uses 2 colors. how awful would it be to use 1 color of wool yarn and the other color in acrylic?

It all depends on you. :LOL Not exactly the answer you were wanting.. :LOL If I were making something, I personally wouldn't mix the two unless I was doing something different. Like thinking along hte lines of a crazy quilt, doing a crazy afghan then I may mix. My thoughts on mixing is the wear and tear of the item. How will it be laundred? Is it for a gift? Will the recipient be willing to hand wash? Or take the chance of interesting felting. It's all up to you!
