#1 hospital bed with obstetrician attending
#2 hospital bed with CNM attending
#3 home, in bathroom, on birth stool, CPM attending

Need I say #1 sucked, #2 was ok, and #3 was awesome!

On the dining room floor, next to the labor pool - I felt I couldn't get traction in the pool.

other...

At home, in my bathtub, though I thought I was going to give birth in bed.
Hubby caught her!

At hospital. Got transferred in. Laboured lots at home tho, including in the bathtub (like heaven for awhile!!) Gave birth lying in bed with my feet resting on the squatting bar - felt great tho I had thought it wouldn't (well, great for labour...).

I had three very wonderful births in a hospital bed. I really would only have changed one thing and that is to not have the EFM hooked up while I was pushing... I didn't have it the last time... she came to quickly to get it set up.

Other than that, no interventions.

First DD ~ birthed at home on a birthing stool
Second DD ~ birthed at home in my bath tub
Third DC ~ planning another homebirth, hopefully in my blow-up kiddie pool!

I voted "other": ds was born at a birthing center, but not in the bed or in the tub. I was in the tub and on the bed during various stages of my labor, but I pushed him out while squatting on the floor (holding onto my husbands legs for support who was sitting behind me in a chair). Next time I'd love to give birth at home in a birthing pool.

**DD - Hospital with midwife.
I walked around and tried all the chairs and balls they had. When the last phase of labor came though, I neeeded to lie down - my legs were just hurting and shaking too much and I did not think I could hold myself up anymore. It was relatively easy to push sitting up (reclined) in bed holding my thighs

**DS - Birth Center part of a hospital with Midwife.
Again, moved around A LOT, and when DS's head began coming out I quickly sat up in bed and pushed only once

**DS #2 - Hospital with Obgyn
Long story, but I was in bed the whole time with an epidural... At least it allwent relatively quickly.

Next time (EDD March 01st) I hope to deliver my baby in the Midwife Center and try other positions.

In a hospital, technically in bed, cus I had a cesarian. I had so wanted a homebirth, but we could not afford a midwife (insurance didnt cover midwife, birthing center or any homebirth care). I settled for a natural birth in the hospital, and chose a lovely OB who supported my views and wasnt above prescribing herbs and such for various ailments instead of drugs or procedures. However... My water broke on her day off, so I went in to see her partner, who immediately packed me off to hospital for an induction. Within the hour i had an amnio infusion, 2 monitors,a fetal scalp electrode,an IV with pitocin, you name it. I tired to use my labor ball, position changes, squatting, rocking, etc but every position i went into caused the amnio infusion catheter to come out. And putting it back in was as bad as contractions! I ended up in the birthing bed with the head up to 90 degrees, kneeling on towels, leaning over the back of the bed and squatting with each contraction. After 9 hours of drug-free labor, the baby's heart rate dropped to 30 and stayed down, so i was rushed off for an emergency c-section. SO much for my natural delivery! The cord was tight around his neck, and he was caught up so high in the uterus he never dropped. The doc said if this was 50 years ago bith the baby and I would have died. It wasn't the delivery i had hoped for, but i have a gorgeous baby boy and i am none the worse for wear.

#2 on the living room couch

I chose at home in bed, but really it was using the bed as support. and then once in the living room.
