Well 10 days after my due date, I finally went into labor!! I say that to encourage those of you who are still waiting....reading the weekly thread stirs my heart up with thoughts of you all because I was so recently there and so very upset.
Eliza Maris is born, weighing in at 8 lbs, 12 oz. and 22 inches. I had a long labor, which I'll tell more about later. We had some complications--Eliza had some very old and thick meconium which we discovered when the waters were broken toward the end. But she was fine, just needed to be handed over to the warming hut and ped. before me. I had an issue with retained placenta. Could not push the darn thing out and was bleeding heavily so had to go to the OR and have it removed. Probs with blood pressure and stuff after that related to blood loss. A bummer, but everything went well, so I"m grateful.
But we are home and she is beautiful. I think I may take a bit longer to bounce back physically, but being with her is such a gift.
I wiill post more later, but just wanted to check in, and also encourage everyone who is still waiting...I think I was the queen of impatience and grumpiness, but it finally happened.
(pictures later too)
