Here's agreat recipefrom the herbal body book:
5-6Tblsp sweet almond, jojoba, castor, or quality vegetable oil
1Tblsp beeswax
2Tblsp pure honey

(optional)10 drops essential oil of spearmint, lime, orange, tangerine, peppermint, lemon or apple blossom for taste OR tea-tree for cold sores and chapped lips
(optional)!/2 tube favorite color lipstick
(optional)cinnimon for color & taste
(optional) flavoring oils; peach, cherry, rasberry, vanilla

Melt oil & beeswax in small saucepan over low haet or in double boiler just until wax is melted ( for extra glossy add more oil).
Remove from heat. If you want to add color to some or all of gloss add now while mix is still hot. Stir occassionally while it cools to prevent seperation. When it is almost cooled add the essential oil you've chosen and stir thoroughly.

Like in love we sometimes create with reckless abandon

Are you open to the idea of using a kit? www.hearthsong.com has a couple nice kits for making lip balm. I have made lip balms in a tube from their kits & everybody loved them! They were just beeswax, almond oil & essential oil poured into the tube.

Here is the link to it:

Are you making it in a ot or in a tube?

Carla, what did you use to pour into the tubes?

If I want to add tea tree oil and borage oil, do I substitute for one of the other oils or just treat them like the essential oil additives?

LaLa,

Well ...I used a tin can & pushed one side of it into a spout. I just use a small saucepan with about an inch of water & put the tin can into it. Instant double boiler! I made mine with peppermint E.O. Makes your lips tingle. My biggest problem was finding more tubes! I finally found a place that will sell them in smaller quantities.

Liquid lip gloss

Does anyone know a recipe for liquid lip gloss that doesn't use glycerin?
