desperately seeking skull pattern!

hi! i went to my local MDC stitch-n-bitch group a while ago and someone was there with 2 photocopies of *great* patterns i'd love to try...but ...
A) I have no idea where the patterns came from [she copied from library and couldn't remember name of book] and...
B) she has not since returned to the SnB, at least not the same days as me, so I can't ask her to borrow them!

they were both junior/toddler patterns: one was for a very cute skull-n-crossbones sweater [pictured on a boy] *BUT* it was not the one from the book Stitch-n-Bitch Nation. I know that one has skull/bones on sleeves, this was directly on the center front and quite large. the other pattern was for a very sweet ballerina-type wrap sweater for girls.

the ladies at my local yarn store helped me scourge every kids pattern book on their shelves to no avail. i think they think i'm crazy

anyone have a clue what book this could be?? :

TIA! -jennifer

Hmmm...sounds adorable!
I have the SnB book with the adult "Skully" sweater pattern. I actually made it for myself a few months ago. Couldn't you just graph the skull on paper yourself in a size that would be appropriate for a baby sweater? You can get knitting graph paper off the net.
That's what i would do...find a child's sweater pattern and graph the image myself. If you want, I can email the graph of the skull to you for the adult sweater. If you think that would help you design a smaller one.

I love the idea of a skull & cross bones sweater for baby!!!

thanks!

thanks phoebe - yes, that actually had occurred to me...but i've never graphed anything before. i have some wonderful people who are helping me get from *newbie* knitter to more advanced projects, so i can ask them to help me graph it. i was just hoping to find all the correct instructions in one place so i don't mess it up! ...oh well, what's life without a little risk, right?
i'll see if i can check out the skully in the SNB book next time i am at the yarn place...
thanks!

I think you should do it yourself. : I don't think it will be as hard as you think it will be, and I bet it will give you all kinds of confidence in your knitting skills when you complete it!

I want to say that there was a ballerina wrap pattern in a Family Circle Easy Knits for Kids book....

Re: making your own sweater pattern - see if you can get the book The Sweater Workshop by Jacqueline Fee - it has complete instructions on how to make any size sweater with any yarn (and any color pattern, if you wanna do that) in-the-round from the bottom up. It's an amazing book, and once you're done with knitting the sweater, you're DONE. You don't have anything to sew up afterwards.

I also so this same skull from a knitting book I checked out at the library. There was also a sweater with a big anchor on it. It is a children's knit book of some kind. It might be the Family Circle one. I don't think it is a Rowan book. Sorry I'm not more help.
