Okay, so my 18 month old dd has some tooth decay on her front four teeth. We have not been the best of brushers,
and a few weeks ago, I noticed that on those front four teeth, right along the gumline, there are some uneven and discolored spots. They look better after they've just been brushed, but it really does seem like some of the enamel has worn off.
So we went to a brand new dentist last week. I really wanted my dd's teeth to get checked out, because I've been really worried about these patches on her teeth. Well, this new dentist turned out to have the bedside manner of a cockroach.
: He looked in dd's mouth for all of 5 seconds (I don' think he could have even seen the spots in that amount of time!) and said, "Oh, well, it's just a little decay. It's no big deal- it's not through the enamel yet so you don't have to worry." What in the world is that about? Since when is tooth decay not a big deal, especially in infants? (He also told me that I had the beginnings of about six cavaties, but he wasn't going to fill them- I just needed to floss more.)
So how do I go about finding a dentist that will actually help me? How do I help her tooth decay, or at least prevent it from getting worse? What do they do for children this young with teeth problems? And why is it she has the problems when my older dd's teeth are perfect?
