Then I was on again for 10 days at 6 weeks when part of my placenta that had stayed inside was removed-so I'm sure that could have aggravated things. Her eczema really didn't get bad until she was about 4 mo old and basically has only gotten worse since-she's now 6 mo old.
Jane what did you eliminate from YOUR diet and what did you add to your diet? I'm thinking I will not introduce solid foods to her until I figure out what is going on. She has never had any formula-only breastmilk. Thanks!!
Aha! I really think this is it Sarah! That's a long time to be on antibx. Plus since you got them, that means she did too at the most vulnerable time in the development of her gut flora.
I went on a total elimination diet at first. Didn't know it was leaky gut per se...the naturopath and I just thought it was allergies. So when I started out I ate:
chicken, turkey, lamb (absolutely positively all organic)
millet, then oats
zucchini, peas, green beans, spinach, asparagus, lettuces, onion, avocado, carrots, sweet potatoes, squash
pears, peaches, blueberries, cherries, apples
(I'm looking at my instruction sheet and it says all fruit is okay ex. banana and oranges and apples... but DS seemed to be okay with apples so I ate them)
olive oil, flax seed oil, then cod liver oil and coconut oil
There's a good thread about this previously.http://www.mothering.com/discussions...d.php?t=161371
This is not necessarily an anti-candida diet for leaky gut but it worked for us. Probably the no refined flour or sugar. I went on probiotics 3x day. DS ate according to these guidelines too (easy b/c he was only eating veg and fruit at time since he was 8 mo old.) We saw results after a week or two, very fast. He started on probiotics 2x day then went to 3x. He took cod liver and flax seed oil gradually in addition to the quercetin.
When we reached the testing phase, I didn't see any reactions in DS. It was strange. But, once I added wheat back I OD'd on bread b/c I was weak and bang, reaction in DS. At first I thought he was just allergic to wheat and it had to build up in my system before it caused a reaction to him. He hadn't had any yet himself. Now looking back, I had started having symptoms of thrush on my nipples, so that meant the yeast was growing again in me.
