My Papa passed away tonight at 5:05. I was sitting on the floor next to his bed holding his hand & he opened his eyes for the first time in 10 hours & squeezed my hand, he was trying to tell me that it was time. I ran & got the rest of my family, we all hugged & kissed him, talked to him & within 3 or 4 minutes he was gone. It was peaceful. I held his hand for 3 hours until the funeral home people arrived. Please pray for my family, the coming days are going to be horrible.

I am so sorry he had to go.

I have a Papa too, and both thier stories were very very similar.
I was crying all over again just reading your story, it was like I was there again.
I know he is with me now tho. And so is your Papa. mama.

Today is his funeral & yesterday was his viewing. I feel so alone & afraid. I miss him so much. I stayed the entire time his viewing was open, the funeral workers were shocked at all the flowers & plants, there are tons, they ran out of stands for them & had to start putting them in the hallway! I told them that anyone that met my Grandfather loved him because he was kind, warm & giving...

Yes, grief can be such a lonely feeling. But know that you are not alone in your grief. We are here to listen and support you.

I'm here, too.

I'm sorry for your fear, and how alone you are feeling. I wish I could send you one of my cats, to hold for a while. She's really good at comforting.

Still thinking of you...

My Papa taught me how to drive, bought me my first car, bought me my
first bouquet of flowers, he took me all over the country in his semi-truck, he took me on huge vacations, he taught me that it was always better to give than to recieve, he did everything for me. He was my Father in addition to being my Grandfather.

We took some of the flowers from his funeral (there were over 30
plants & bouquets!) to his Dialysis center, the receptionist & his
favorite nurse came out & said they already missed him. He taught
them all about being happy & living your life to the fullest. He
made everybody laugh, infact my Mom got a card in the mail yesterday
from a friend of hers when she was 10 that she hasn't seen in 40
years saying that he still remembers my Papas laugh & he is sure
everyone in heaven is cracking up.

My Papa was so brave & noble, he made the decision to end dialysis &
never went back, he could not bear to burden us & he could not bear
the pain any longer. He called all of his friends & told them he
was 'cashing in his chips' & let them know he loved them & told them
goodbye. What an amazing man, I only hope I can be so giving, brave
& selfless in my life.

I wish I knew the words to explain how I feel... Lost, Angry, Scared, Alone & Cheated to name a few. I miss him so much. I have never went this long in my entire life without talking to him.
