CO Senator ?ing philosophical exemption

Our local paper had an article quoting a Sen. Bob Hagedorn, who is concerned about the philosophical exemption being abused and would like an investigate into it. Apparently he "understands and repsects exemption for religious resaons", but not because "parents simply don't believe in the practice". He also would like a state immunization registry created to track children. I feel strongly about this issue and would like speak out and keep the philsophical exemption, who do I contact, what to I say? Thank you, as you can tell this is new to me.

Can you write back to the same paper and try to get in the comments section? Stuff like this makes me crazy angry and makes me want to move out of the U.S. What is it his business if parents dont want to vaccinate for religious or philosophical?

Isnt this already in place? Or in the works? I read somewhere about a national registry but that parents have to agree to be on it? I will have to do some digging later tonight after my son goes to bed. This doesnt help anything, all it does is push people away from going to the doctor.

I like the writing to the paper idea...and add who's pocket is he in that he has such an agenda that does not allow for parents to exercise their freedom.
I live in Mississippi...and would love a religious exemption..we and west virgina have medical only...but I would love even more a philosophical one....do you have friends that would write also? Or contact his office about your being against this action...and it will mean reconsidering your vote next election...I have an inkling that the people who believe the philosophical exemption be removed have done that.

Yikes!

This is the first I've heard about this, but that scares me as well! Please do post what you find... and I'll keep my ears open.

I did a quick google search for "vaccination registry" and it appears that TX and GA already have them.

I was just thinking that, too. I'm not even in Boulder, and it's still pretty easy to not vax in Colorado.

Whoever made the rule that the philsophical exemption had to be for religious reasons? Can't I be philosophically opposed to it just because I think it's a bad idea? Does God have to validate my opinion now? :

OK, Colorado Mamas....time to write us some letters!

Hey, ladies, check this out:

Looks like Colorado allows for three different exemptions, medical, religious and philosophical...would be interesting to see how this Senator justifies his feelings that ONLY religious doubts are valid.

Yes, we have always used the personal exemption.

seems to me that would be discriminating against people based on their religion or lack thereof - certainly does not seem very "american"

OH, he doesn't even want to awaken my

This is one of mine and while I don't usually poke my head out of the Good Eating and Nutrition section much, this is one thing that definitely got my attention. I live in CO and I'd be damned if he gets this on any agenda in my state....

Time to contact some newspapers and behind the scenes political friends....
