Anyone here not vaxing and has Kaiser insurance?

We may have to switch insurance to Kaiser (much to my chagrin) and I'm nervous about being a non-vax family in that bureacuracy. Just wondering if anyone has any experience.

TIA, Betsy

We had Kaiser until very recently. We vaxed our first kid, decided to delay and then vax selectively with #2 (but have only given him one shot in nearly two years as it turns out...) Anyway, we didn't have any problems. It's a big system with a lot of doctors, and I'm sure you will find one who will respect your position. All the docs I saw were very open to delaying although every one of them urged me to at least get him the DTaP (which I did not). I think that as long as the doc knows that you have done your research, that you can tell them exactly what your decision is based on, you won't have any problems. I really liked being on Kaiser, by the way, had a fabulous midwife with them, and was sorry to leave.

We had Kaiser for three years. In that time; we only needed to go see a pediatrician once. My son had Impetigo. To put it mildly; I was very unimpressed. She treated my son like crap. (I already know what this doc's reaction would have been to refusing vaccinations.)

In general; this has been my experience (as both nurse and patient) with staff model HMO's.

Our family does not go in for "Well Baby Checks". I was very glad of this when I found out Kaiser was our only choice for a health plan. If given a choice; I would always choose a PPO or indemnity plan. You have a better chance of not being treated like cattle.
