This SAHM's gettin' organized! Wanna join me? (support thread) - Page 5

I like the idea of a weekly thread, and will be happy to start one whenever someone else doesn't. Personal growth sounds about right.

As for this week, I am excited to report that I finished making the meal plan and shopping this. (Thanks Breathe - I used your grocery list as a fantastic guide!) The kitchen is clean and laundry is somewhat under control. No major cleaning got done this weekend, just maintenance.

Jeez. Can I join? My husband and I are having a really hard time because of all the clutter and junk in our house. I really need to get in a routine. He's gone for an entire week this week so I'm going to try to whip the house into shape while he's gone. I really need to keep it clean though.

Im Carey WAHM to a 5 year old ds and a 18 month dd. I do daycare in my home, do that makes for a lot of clutter. I will type more later because I am an organizational misfit. I blame it on my mom who is super organized. She did it all for me growing up, so I never learned how.

Repy to SAHM gettin' organized

Hi! I couldn't help noticing that the last thing on your list was to take some "ME" time. This should be the very first thing! Everything else will follow once that is accomplished. Getting organized and having structure in your day is important especially for us SAHM's but please don't put too much pressure on yourself for things to be perfect. Dinner will happen, kids will learn and grow especially if their Mamma is learning and growing for herself.

Ok, I love this idea, Breathe!! I love your plans to incorporate a "lesson plan" for your child. I don't remember how you put it on your initial thread now, but I think that's a great idea. My son attends preschool 4 times a week for 2.5 hours each day, but there is plenty of time left for us to do things! I'm always intending to do crafts with him and then just forget, so I'll start some kind of list for that.

I also like the idea of sharing tips and check lists, etc. I have a couple of great links to share but I'll read through all the threads to make sure they haven't been covered already.

I can't post daily, but I can try to post weekly (I'll add posting here to my list haha)

Me Too!!

I see that many of you are Flyladies . . . I must admit that I could never make her system work for me . . . it didn't seem to fit well with the life of a family with very young children (for instance, dropping whatever you're doing to declutter a particular space . . . just couldn't do it!). But some of us can use that technique and others a different one.

I also found Flylady not very helpful for me and my two little ones! Declutttering each and everyday is too much.

BUT that said -- COUNT ME IN!! I am feeling SO overwhelmed by the clutter and the mess and the disorganization in my home : . I was also thinking that I too have put this off with number 2 and the overwhelming feeling it is to have 2 and get organized with 2.

I will think of my goals and post too.

Thanks for posting!

Update: Dh and I sat down and made a weekly routine of sorts, including both his recurring work projects (he works from home) and housework. Stuff is still tending to spill over considerably from its allotted day, but at least we are now actually getting everything done at some point at least once during the week (ok, except mopping, but maybe we'll work up to that).

I in particular could now qualify for Housekeeping Goddess status IF there were only two rooms in our apartment. The bedroom and bathroom look great. I made the beds this morning, picked/wiped up twice today (in those rooms only), and it was no big deal. The problem is, these are the easy rooms. Now to attack the living room and the kitchen (which are still atrocious, and where all the messy stuff takes place)...

At least half of you are probably going to laugh or shake your head sadly at me, but last night was so great: Even after doing nothing up until 1:00 mass and then having a relaxed lunch afterwards and continuing to be fairly harmonious all day (meaning plenty of interruptions :-)), we had our work (including some paid work dh has to do over the weekends) put aside in time to prepare a one-pot dinner and eat it and relax afterwards and still get to bed by midnight. (Yes, this is supposed to be a big accomplishment. :LOL) We're so cool.

I'm off to clean the living room!

It's almost February, Mamas! How are you guys hanging in?

My house is a disaster, we've faltered some on the weekly menus (mainly bc I'm doing this INSANE elimination diet) . . . can't believe how much momentum I've lost in only one month!

Others?

I'm not doing anything 'cause I had my baby on Sunday! I got my HBA2C, story and pic are here. I'm finding out that my dh is a better housewife than I am! I'll be here lurking but am going to take it easy for awhile longer. I don't want to crash into ppd like last time.

Congradulations Deb! Take it easy!

I have good days and not so good days. Consistancy is on-going issue for me! My decluttering is going great, though. I'm working on the master bedroom and bathroom today and I have gotten rid of so much junk! The house really looks 100 times better than it did a month ago, and we have healthy snacks in the house. Our house is now on the market so I have to kick into high gear
