I have always taken my antidepressants (including Celexa) at night, as many of them do tend to be somewhat sedating. I was getting tired when Itook them in the AM, so my Dr. said to take them at night.

when i was on celexa, i took it at night. i have been off it for almost 2 years now-pregnant and now breastfeeding. i feel like i came out of the fog and can think clearly now that i'm off it.

hi - just wanted to chime in as well that my dr suggested that i take celexa at night so i wouldn't be tired, and i've been fine with that - actually i did notice i felt tired on the few occasions where i forgot to take it before going to bed and then had to take it the following am. good luck! hope you tolerate the celexa better!

I take Lexapro, the 2nd generation Celexa. I had trouble taking it at night b/c it seemed to make it harder to sleep and also made me more nauseous. So I switched to taking it in the morning or at lunchtime.

You may not experience the same "knocked out" feeling with a different medication, so you can experiment with taking it in the morning and see what happens. Also, I felt spacey for about the first 7-10 days, but after that it subsided. I don't know how long you were on Effexor, but it could have been an initial thing that would have worn off over time. But if it works better for you to take it at night, then definitely do!

Good luck,
Carol
