We practice natural weaning! My nurslings are now (almost) 4.5 years old and 2.5 years old. I also have a 6 year old who weaned naturally on his fifth birthday (he planned his weaning for 6 months and his last nursing was one of the most beautiful, memorable experiences of my life!).

I got pg with Zachary when Alex was 9 months old, nursed through pregnancy, tandem nursed, got pg again when Zachary was 15 months old, tandem nursed through pregnancy, triandem nursed for over 18 months and am now back to tandem nursing.

Hi blessedwithboys. Since this is a forum for Child Led Weaning (CLW), everyone here practices it (or is learning about it). So you are in good company.

My nurslings are almost four and 16 mo. I was just saying on another forum that when dd turns four she will be the child nursed the longest in my family so I'll feel on new grounds after that. She's also the longest I've nursed too as ds1 self-weaned prematurely.

My ds will be 3 in March, and still nurses 24/7. We cosleep and he nurses often at night; sometimes more often than during the day, when we are having fun!

yep, i know everyone who posts here does CLW. i was hoping for an informal roll call of sorts to see who would be frequenting the forum, as i don't really know all of you all that well.

amanda, i read your story a while back. i cried like a fool! what a wonderful memory for you 2 to share!

Hi blessedwithboys. I'm blessed with one boy! He turned 5 a month and a half ago. Looks like the poll has succeeded in becoming the roll call you were looking for. Welcome!

well, this is gonna be long as i'm going to be giving you all a bit of my family history. clw in our family began with my great grandmother who bf several of her kids till they started school. one was 8 according to family legend. my grandmother bf 4 of 5 kids. the middle child cried and cried, probably a high need child, so they had my grandmother pump a bottle of milk to see if it had enough cream. well it had enough cream but they noticed it was blue color (which we know now is caused by b-vitamins) and decided it was not good for the baby which was weaned to cow's milk. her other 4 were bf over 1 yr till she was pg. i've always wondered why they didn't womder why her milk was good for the first 2 and the last 2 but not good in the middle? then my mom bf me for 4 mos when apharmacist gave her a pill to dry her just a bit. it dried her up and i was ff;d after that. my brother was bf for 7 mos. my aunt chose not to bf. i clw my daughter till she weaned overnight at 5 y, 4 m. my sil bf her 3 for over 2 yr. her daughter and dils all culturally bf. they bf for a few mos then turned to ff. 1 dil ff from the beginning. my daughter tandem nursed all 3 of her boys and she;s pg with her 4th. they each weaned about 2 1/2. we'll see with this last one. and my aunt, the one who wasn't bf, well she ended up with premenapausal breast cancer. her daughter chose to bf for over 1 yr. with all 3 of hers. more than you ever wanted to know.

a grandmother who has survived 4 strokes w/ a dh who has been support to me and daughter.
