I lvoe fitteds I use only wool soakers and longies I do use mostly prefolds during the daya nd save my fitteds at night
What is the big deal with hyenas? I keep seeing that referrance
post #25 of 93
Well I hear what you are saying about the 2 closures because to me one of the #1 diapering priorities is that my kiddo is COMFORTABLE!

So I have certain covers that I like with prefolds and certain covers that I like with fitteds.

I LOVE my Motherease AF's for use with fitteds. They are just so soft and not restrictive at all. They just seem so comfy.

You end up covering up the cute prints/colors anyway. Then once I put a cover on it is pretty bulky for my active 20 month old. The thing that gets me is the bulk of the 2 closures. 2 sets of snaps on a hip cannot feel good. Or aplix and aplix....you know what I mean. Am I alone? Or the only one brave enough to say it :LOL
thank you for coming out of the closet!!

I feel exactly the same way! It was funny, I would have a $20 hyena diaper (beautiful) but then covered by a prorap :LOL and would wonder.. why on earth am I spending money on a diaper I don't even look at???
I'm crashing your party, heh heh...

I have a fair amount of "hyena" fitteds (El Bee, SOS, etc.) and they are all plain. Well, some SOS are dyed but just one color so it's no big tragedy if they are covered up, it's not like they are works of art. I don't buy El Bees and SOS for their beauty, I buy them because of how they work and how they fit. I just love the functionality of these diapers.

Now, ITA with you about the multiple closures. This is why I only use wool soakers. To me nothing could be more comfy than a nice, stretchy, soft, breathable wool soaker... AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH......... :LOL

If I used prefolds I would always be paranoid about snappi snags on my wool. My toes are curling just thinking about it. (Goes off to pet wool, and think soothing thoughts)

In the summer I loved fitteds, dd ran around in a coverless diaper and t-shirt or sundress, very cute and easy. Now in the winter I am not loving fitteds because of the added bulk when dd is already dressed in layers. I have been reaching for AIOs more and more these days. But I know once the sun comes back out I will love them again. Its a real love/hate relationship :LOL
post #29 of 93
Dh liked fitteds more than I do.
Now I'm attempting to sell them to fund the AIO's I just bought (easier to use when I'm visiting people out-of-town for a day or two). See my sig if you're looking for Sugarpeas or FB.

I prefer prefolds - I can snappi on a prefold quicker than I can snap on a fitted (yeah, I'm not normal). And ds runs around in just a diaper most of the time anyway - even though it's 20 degrees out (our woodstove rocks; it's currently 74 in my living room).

Lanna..

First, I love your name! I remember I wanted to be Lana from Super Man so badly, but ofcourse, that never happened! :LOL

I recently asked dh what his favorite diaper is, and has been in almost a year of cloth diapering, trying so many different things, etc.. and he said pockets. He loves the fact that it's so easy to put on. I wish he liked the 2-step system of fitted and cover. but then again, the fact that he likes pockets makes it easier for me, cause I get to buy more!

I would NEVER use snappis under wool - it makes me nervous even to think about that! I ALWAYS pin prefolds under wool.

But then again, I don't like snappis all that much anyways.

This is exactly what I was going to say! I am feeling blah about my fitteds now under all these clothes--snaps upon snaps upon snaps upon snaps, blech! but I think the love will return when the warm weather comes back. We don't do coverless (I just don't get that : ) but a fitted under a soaker is perfect for so many summer outfits.

For now, sign me up for more FBs and VB AIOs!

To anwser the question:

I like fitteds for night. & I am feeling the prefold love during the day. (I've actually been eyeing your site for more colors.

I have found the best of both worlds though!! www.growmearainbow.com. I LOVE LOVE LOVE these!

I used to be a fitteds only kinda gal. But now I have about four (maybe five?)... and obviously since I have no clue how many I have, then they're not seeing as much use.

I'm a prefold gal now... a few prefitteds in there too of course, but still, nice and simple. Katherine is quite the wetter, but we'll still go coverless at home. Some things get a bit moist at times, but we have hardwood floors so it's not so bad.

On the wool thing, I use snappis under my wool allllll the time!! No problems here. But we don't have a ton of wool. ME AF covers are the staple at our house. There's a Bummis or two in there as well, but I my AF covers!!

I use almost exculsively prefolds and wool with snappis (well, fitteds at night but that just works so I'm not messing with it). I have never had a problem with the snappi.

I don't mind fitteds, but they are so much more expensive, and prefolds are so nice and trim and versatile. So many people complain about being able to get a good fit with their fitteds. With prefolds, you can fold it and get just the right fit. As for the squirmy baby, just turn out the lights and get a small flashlight. The baby is occupied and you learn how fold in the dark!

Thanks!
I hated my name up until college though. I've only had two K-12 teachers and 3 college professors ever say it correctly the first time. Btw, it rhymes with banana as I found when we moved when I was 7. :

We also use snappi's and wool. No problems in the last two months, even with the vintage soakers. I'm more afraid of sticking ds with pins than the snappi snagging wool.
I'm not feeling the fitteds love either. I have sold all my fitteds except for one, which my friend made. It is the BOMB, trim and absorbent enough for my heavy wetter. I'm an all pocket girl now, with a couple aio's thrown in.
We use a snappi w/wool too. I just cut the bottom part off so I don't snag my wool.
I hate fitteds, generally. It's completely irrational, I just cannot fathom spending $10+on ONE diaper that is gonna be covered up anyway!

Plus I just HATE the way a snapping fitted comes off when it's wet...it's just so WRONG, KWIM? To me, a diaper is a square or a rectangle. I am a prefold lover all the way, pins or snappis, I like it all, and we're all wool here too. Never had a snappi-attacking-wool episode.

We do coverless always at home, and everywhere when it's warm enough (which is March-November here, lol!) so I have stacks and stacks of pretty colored PFs. They last longer, wash up better, don't stink, are so classic and CHEAP, did I mention CHEAP?! : Plus they always fit, no matter how much weight he gains or loses, boy or girl no matter, just fold it how you like it! Gee, I'm getting all emotional!

I always felt like I was missing out too, but then I got one fitted totally on impulse off Celestial Baby, and while as fitteds go it is fabulous I'm sure, it's just totally not my thing. I am absolutely with GeorgiaGalHeidi on that one - I didn't know how good i had it until I branched out!
