(just teasing you! I am an equal opportunity diaper-er.. I have no idea what I'm really going to like or not!)

I'm sure I'm not the only one who cannot wait to see the evolution of Holli's diapering tastes! I wonder if she'll post one day about "the prefold love" for example? I'll bet she goes through all phases, just like the moon.

You know I never wanted to be a fitteds/prefitteds person, but nothing else works as well for us. AIOs always leak. Pockets drive me batty, plus we had problems with repelling fleece. I can't fold a prefold well enough to not get our wool full of poo. So prefitteds make up the bulk of our stash with fitteds filling in the rest. I'd love to have a system that could be put on in one step, but I'd rather put on a fitted/prefitted then pull on a cover instead of having to change her clothes every time I change her diaper due to leaks. And it's not like the diapers are soaked, there's just something odd about her shape or something that makes them leak.

: Actually, I'm not a big prefold fan... But they do make great burp/ spit up rags.

I think different dipes work at different stages for us. We used prefolds until dd was about 6 months old. Then I got some fitteds and what a world of difference it was for us. Now pocket aios work best since she's so squirmy and quick.

I wish I had fitteds and aios when she was little because of all the blowouts. Fitteds would've been easier to change on her. Not to mention, dh and grandma never quite got the hang of folding prefolds. So this time around, I'm building a newborn/ small fitteds and aio stash.

But I'm not a fitteds print fan. Like someone else said, if it's going to get covered, what's the point? But I do like some aio prints.

And yes, my underwear is boring. :LOL

*I* always liked fitteds, but Noam is going through an 'I hate fitteds' phase. I put one on and he screams, "NO! TOO TIGHT" even if it is all but falling off his body. He must not like the way they feel.

I'll see your PF and raise you a FMBG calligraphy fitted

I love PFs. I truly do. But I sincerely love our fitteds too. As to the cover question, I should sell all of ours b/c C rarely has a cover on. I love the look of plain white PFs (Pin or Snappi) hugging his little bum. And I love the way almost all of his fitteds look hugging his bum too.

I just wish I knew why theres so many covers over in his diaper stacks. :LOL

And as for night diapering...I'm still loving the Nightlights.

I used to love fitteds until my kiddos got to be toddlers. Then I really didn't want to advirtise with a big, bulky diaper that my 3 and half year old still wasn't potty trained, iykwim Then I fell in love with fuzzibunz and decided to put the new baby exclusively in fb's. I'm lovin' it I liked seeing my guys run around coverless in the summer with a cute fitted and loved them under wool too, but I think we'll stick with the fbs. They are just so trim and simple!

The only time I do fitteds and a cover is at night or during a nap. I agree, it's just too bulky and too much trouble otherwise.

I do love fitteds though. It's all Alex wears at home, coverless, of course.

If we go out, it's Fuzzi Bunz. No way would I do a fitted, cover and then pants.

Me personally, I am a prefold illiterate!! I cant fold them right!! I cant seem to snappi them quite right either.. I do stuff some of my FBs with prefolds if I am running low on inserts!!

As for fitteds.. I mine! I have lots of different kinds and can say that I hated fitteds to start with and sold all the ones I had (after the NB stage bc for us they were great for that!) and 2 months later after joining in on the wool love.. I had to rebuild my fitted stash.. I use all diff types of dipes though depending on my mood!!

There have been a few days where all I use are my FBs, VBs, & SBBs!!

Hi, my name is Amy and I'm not a fitted fan either.

I do love wool though and I like fitteds for that. I dislike prefolds even more than fitteds : but I think that's because C is so squirmy that it's hard to get any dipe on him at all!

Anyway, I've found I really like Loveybums fitteds with Aplix (I don't like that either but it works for squirmy boy) so I'm going to get some more of those and sell off the rest of the fitteds I have.

I'm going to give prefolds a shot with the new baby though, hopefully they will work out! One of my kids better let me diaper the way I want too! :LOL

Amy!!!!!! congratulations!!!!! for you!

Besides that fantastic news....

I'm thinking about selling all my fitteds and going to prefolds. I can get them on faster, I find them to be trimmer, and they fill up my diaper pail slower. And they're cheap.
But I see what some of you are saying about summer...I didn't like the bumpy prefold look under T's shorts last summer...but maybe flats can solve that. That's my next Diapering Endeavour - flats.

I like fitteds because they hold in the poopies, that's the main reason. Now that Alex is starting solids I've contemplated using more prefolds. Do the more solid (peanut butter) poops leak out the leg holes often? Right now I have enough fitteds that I dont' use my prefolds much except to stuff fuzzi bunz.

I think fitteds are cute, but are presently rather impractical for us. They are hard to get clean without buildup with our soft water, they are bulky, and they are more expensive. I have some, and I am holding on to them for summer, when he will presumably be walking, and he can just wear a fitted and a tshirt. I think I have 8 or 10, Tykies, Sugarbums, Elbees, and VK (my fave prints!).

I have always used at least 50% PFs, and liked them just fine. They wash easily, they always fit, DS has been wearing the same ones since he was 10 weeks old! DH never uses the fitteds, just trifolds a PF into a Bummi's SIWW. I have knitted some nice Ribby Wraps and soakers, and have two beloved wool covers, snappis, pins, but DH ignores them all. All hail the Bummi's SIWW!

I haven't had a fitted on my wish list in months. They're almost as expensive--in some cases MORE expensive--than pockets and AIOs, and you still have to use a cover with them. That irritates me. But the thing that drives me #&#@ing BONKERS is the knowledge that the fit varies so dramatically. How am I supposed to come up with a complete, uniform, birth-to-potty diaper stash for a child who isn't even conceived yet if the diapers fit every baby differently? I mean, that's asking too much of me! : :LOL

That said, the ease of going coverless is appealing (my mom freaks out at the idea of her grandchildren wearing diaper covers for some reason--I guess she's having flashbacks to the plastic pants days), and the learning curve on them is easy enough that I have fantasized about getting a full stash of Kissaluvs (or fitteds made of a similarly stretchy fabric) and nylon pull-on pants--super easy, only one set of closures, thus giving me the ability to have everything all uniform. But, of course I wouldn't waste that much money on diapers (and of course, my dh hates nylon).

That's the long way of saying "I occasionally see the appeal of fitteds, but I don't really like them either."

For now, sign me up for more FBs and VB AIOs!

Yup! We do do ( dodo, hehe :LOL) coverless, but fitteds are also great under wool soakers. I'm not really digging the snaps/snaps thing right now so we use all knit wool. During the summer though I am sensing a return to pf's and wool covers, and that's all she'll need on the bottom.

ETA Wait, Shelly, does this mean you no longer adore your SOS? :

prefolds are just not absorbant enough for my DD. i love fitteds for their fit - trim, functional. and yes, i like the prints/designs. true, in winter they are covered up but come warmer weather i plan on showing them off a bit more. prints make diapering a bit more fun and colorful than it might otherwise be. i have been annoyed w/DD's squirming lately and can see the love for AIO's but i just prefer breathability so i'll put up w/the hassle...as long as i can. this summer, maybe we'll have to do more AIO's on outings but we're home most of the time and fitteds are what i love here - ESPECIALLY over wool pants/longies!

I use prefolds to stuff my pocket dipes! HA! and as barf rags :LOL I am such a fitteds and cover gal it's just insane. AIOS, yep we do those too. I am so prefold impaired its not even funny. I can barely fold them to put into a pocket. All those beauty dyed prefolds I have from you..........they are all over my house to casually be used as drop cloths for when Indigo yaks. I use *mostly* wool pull on covers, so there's no double closure thing going on. Now for Ivy, she doesn't always have a cover on. It depends upon who has changed her diaper last. Sometimes she has an aio with a wool cover, a fitted with an aio shell, or a sposie with a wool soaker. :LOL
