Living in the land of "I don't like fitteds"? - Page 5

My dd running around in a pf or fitted with no cover is a normal thing. We do it all year round at home. This way..I know she is wet. I can see on the dipe. As long as you know what to look for.. When we go out we use AIO's or pocket AIO's. It works well for us. Everyone is different. That's what makes CD so much fun.

Wow... thanks for posting this because I thought I was totally nuts! I was so baffled by everyone being so in love with the prints that I thought I was doing something wrong because in MY house they would under a cover and out of sight...

BUT... I do have a number of ME/Sandy's fitteds (no prints! LOL) that I absolutely love because they are just so absorbant and NOTHIN's getting out of them. Admittedly they definitely take longer to dry and as for bulk, I don't notice them being alot bulkier than anything else we use.

I honestly even got on to fitteds because I am surrounded by a bunch of ignorant ILs (they're not ignorant because they're not NFL... they're ignorant because they're ignorant about EVERYthing). The only shot I had at getting them to NOT put sposies on DS was to ensure that my CDs were as easy to use as possible for them. Turns out, we don't speak to them anymore! :LOL

As a pf mama of 3 since 1998, I have to say I love pf and pins -- snappi is okay but I love pins.
But.... after I started using wool on my nb dd and having leaking bf poo on the wool cover after every poo, I did invest in a few fitteds to save me from washing off poo from wool every day and I only had 2 wool covers at the time.
I put pf on my dd no cover today and remembered what a great feeling I had when I first bought those dipes.
So, the only point I see in fitteds is to save your wool covers. And since I put clothes on top of my wool covers I go for economical aristocrats -- plain, not fancy. My fitteds I put under aren't particularly fancy either.

I prefolds AND fitteds.

I usually use a fitted with wool or fleece pants or shorts. And skip the cover.

I am totally into trying a prefitted though for this reason Less hip bulk.

I think what I have so far are prefitteds- contour dipes? I wonder how fitted WITHOUT fasteners would work... would the cover keep them up, or would the fitted drag them down? I was thinking it could be the best of both worlds- a better fitting dipe but only one fastening to do so less bulk there. Of course, the mamas who don't use covers with their fitteds might end up with nudies running around!

I LOVE knitted and crocheted wool. For that reason, I use fitteds. I like having something to change into when I want a break from Fuzzi Bunz. Sometimes, I want baby's butt to breathe a little more so I use the fitteds. I've only just begun to stand using them since I found some great fleece-topped doublers. Baby is a heavy wetter and it made no since to put a fitted on before the doublers came because I'd just be taking it right back off again. Now, with the doublers, we can even go coverless for awhile.

The fitteds I have are Cuddlebuns one size so they are a great investment for me.

I reach for the fbs first and then fitteds. Now that daycare is using the fb, I find it better to use the fitteds in the evenings and on weekends. We still use fb at night.

If I didn't have a fascination with wool soakers/longies, I wouldn't use fitteds. I will only buy patterned fitteds because I love fabric so much and plain fitteds are such a waste to me.

First and foremost, fitteds give me an excuse to buy more wool

I do not care for fitteds. My fav are pf's of all kinds and wool!!! Daddy loves FB.

There are two kinds of fitteds that I do love though....sherpa and MEOS.

Kinda funny...when I started cding I thought I would love fitteds, pockets, and aios. I thougth they looked "easy"

Nothing is easier than a soft cushy pf, snappi, and some longies!

Chiming in late here ... but I totally hear you on the double set of fasteners ... that's why with fitteds (which except for 3 lonely Mutt's are now only just me-made), I use a side-closure cover (cause my fitteds are all front snap). But, it's still a lot of snaps going on, so I usually go one step further and use a side-aplix cover with a front-snap fitted. My favorite, by far, are my semi-fitteds - basically just fitteds I made that I left off the snaps/aplix. I used fabric that can snappi (or pin) easily and it's like the best of both worlds! The convenience (in terms of poop) of fitteds with the simplicity of pf's/flats/contours, yet they stay closed and are trim. So, that's my new favorite (although I definitely go through stages ... usually I'll do pf's all day, snap-ins the next, semi-fitteds and regular fitteds the next. I have FB's (which get stuffed with pf's), but those are for night for both boys (and occassionally for ds#2 when going out and about).

You end up covering up the cute prints/colors anyway. Then once I put a cover on it is pretty bulky for my active 20 month old. The thing that gets me is the bulk of the 2 closures. 2 sets of snaps on a hip cannot feel good. Or aplix and aplix....you know what I mean. Am I alone? Or the only one brave enough to say it :LOL
I use fitteds but they are boring white ones. They are much bulkier than prefolds but easier to put on a squirming baby.

Pull up covers and ME OS are both very trim and you don't get that double layer thing going on.

You ladies are KILLIN me! I'm in the process of switching my stash of pockets to fitteds/covers because of a gross, nasty, mildew thing in the lining of the pockets when I waited three days to do the wash- just started back to work part time, and because of not using them during the day and my total exhaustion, just didn't wash. I just thought/think the seperate dipe and cover combo will be healthier for our situation right now. (I wash every two days now, still- I'm not up for that again)

I need to like my fitteds... I must like the fitteds!! I have avoided CPFs and snappis because when I tried it briefly, it didn't go well... the babe twists and turns and in general, goes nutso during changes and I can't get the prefold on so it stays in place. I am working on a Bummi SWW too, so maybe that will help.

I didn't know others avoided snappis with wool. I learn so much from you all!
