Budgeting help

Does anyone have any good book recomendations or computer programs for household budgeting?

DH and I do ok with this on our own, but we get lax from time to time and really need something more..stringent. Now that we have a baby on the way and we just found out that he might lose his job it's been stepped up a notch.

TIA for any help!

Computer program: Quicken
Book: Your Money Your Life
Website for help: http://www.simpleliving.net

The people at simple living are very, very helpful. Browsing their website will show you how people are cutting back, scrimping, and saving money.

I'm sending positive thoughts for your husband's job (and a healthy baby) your way.

I want to second simpleliving.net I am over there ALMOST as much as I am at MDC.

Some other books that are good are

Financial Peace Revisited by Dave Ramsey
Debt proof Living (I think that is the title) by Mary Hunt
The Automatic Millionaire by David Bach

It really depends on your current situation. Do you have debt? current income? etc..

Any budget program will work if you stick with it. I really liked the way The Automatic Millionaire showed the importance of "Pay yourself First". That is basically what the whole book is.

Just grab a bunch from the library and find one that "speaks" to you.
