I sure didn't want to be the first Feb. momma to go into labor
. I'm 33wks5days. Yesterday (1/6) I went to my m/w for a little time on the monitor just to see how the baby was doing and if I was having any contractions. Low and behold I was having them very regularly 5 minutes apart. I could barely feel them. My m/w was out of town (nurse was doing the test), so the great nurse and the M.D. that shares the office next door came over for a little cervix check (I was about 1.5). They contacted the O.B. that works with the m/w and decided to send me to the hospital for fluids.
After two bags the contractions basically stopped, but they went ahead and gave me the subcutaneous (sp?) under the skin injection just to make sure. It just kind of makes your heart race for a little, but relaxes the uterus. So, they sent me home. Whew! O.B. said that I must have been a little dehydrated which is VERY EASY to do when you are pregnant. Truthfully I thought I was drinking enough, but she said to drink MORE!! So, wanted to tell everyone to keep up your liquids even if it means a million trips to the bathroom!
Things seem quieter today, but there are still B/H going on in there. Baby, STAY IN, STAY IN, STAY IN....It's not time yet.
With my first baby I never had one contraction when my water broke with a slow leak at 29 wks. She just stayed in until I was induced at 32 weeks (fluid got really low). So this contraction thing is sure new to me!
So, am I the first to make this trip to the hospital? BTW, they treated me really great!
