I was at a New Year's Eve party with a friend of mine. It was a small gathering of ppl. One of the ladies, quite a witty and humorous woman I might add, was asking abt my family. I told her I had a 5 yr old and 1 yr old, and like I always do, slipped it in there that I'm nursing. She gave me a sideways glance and I thought, "Okay, here it comes." Then she asked if I planned to wean anytime soon. When I told her no, she gave me a high five and said she nursed her son until he was four! I didnt get a chance to ask if it was Child Led or not, but the woman nursed until he was FOUR!! Yipee. I know it's so common here, but to run across someone who proudly tells you that, well, it's extremely refreshing and encouraging. I think I need to make her my new best friend :LOL

My mom gave me this for Christmas and I absolutely love it. Gorgeous illustrations and very sweet ideas inside. Plus it's just structured enough so that I can be creative about what I include...

This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.

Thats so great! I love comments like that (rare as they are), and they are especially good when you are expecting the exact opposite response!

I get are-you-crazy looks when people find out I'm still nursing my dd, and she's only 21.5 months old!

My husband was in a wedding when little dd was 3 mos old. She attended the wedding with me in our sling, and actually was very well received, although the general attitude seemed to be "I don't know why she'd want to bring a baby, but that baby's sure cute!"
I didn't know hardly anyone there, and was stuck at a table alone since dh was at the head table and busy a lot of the time. I was sort of dreading being all alone with my baby. I was placed at the table with some of the bride's out of town friends, and a retired physician and his wife. All of the bride's friends were dressed to the nines, and beautiful, and looked so intimidating!
Imagine my delight when the lovely, sophisticated appearing lady sitting next to me oohed and aahed over my baby, then told me she was nursing her 20 month old! I was so excited. I never meet anyone other than one friend and my LLL leader who has nursed a baby as long as myself in real life (and I've never had a really extended nursed child!) Funny the things that make your day!

I went out to eat with dh and this car club that he was in and although it was mostly guys one of the two women there and I got to talking and I found that she had nursed her son until age 3 and they co-slept. It's fun to find like-minded mamas in the unlikeliest of places. I mean all we had in common was the same type of car and breastfeeding, LOL
