well, I went to the OB today

and it looks as though I'm going to have to have another scheduled section. I went to the only practice who would even speak with me about a VBA2C, and the OB wouldn't consider it.

So.. what that means is that I'll go back to my previous practice (10 min away as oppossed to more than 45) - they'll base my due date off my last period rather than the ultrasound because there's less than 2 weeks difference, and I'll deliver the last week of July.

That being said, I'm going to read this group and the July one if it's okay with y'all.

what if you just happened to schedule the c/s late and went into labor beforehand? (idealy show up at the hospital crowning! :LOL ) they won't even let you try for a VBAC?

Maybe you should look for an understanding midwife? I dont know how they are in your area (they are not very good here) I hope you can avoid the surgical birth tho!

this was the only midwife in my area that would consider it.. and she wanted to do it but had to get the permission of the OB she works for.. and he wouldn't give it.

I'm okay with it overall, I think.. it's getting easier for me to accept.

s I was terribly disappointed when #1,2, and 3 were c-sections each for their own very good reasons. I have resigned to this one being a c/s, too. It really sucks that I'll never get a vaginal delivery, but I'm coming to terms with it, also.

Oh, and I'm going to being having my c/s in late July, also.

JoAida.. I don't care so much about the c-section, truthfully.

My problem is that I felt like I was packing for a trip, and then an hour or two later, they said here's your baby.

I didn't feel connected to him at all.. and I didn't feel like there was a real end to the pregnancy, it was just over. That feeling freaked me out, and i attribute the hard time I had bonding with my son to it..

being that you've had multiple c-sections as well.. have you found a way to avoid that feeling?

Jodi... I'm sure you're relieved to know the answer now...seems the not knowing is always more difficult than even getting the news you were hoping to avoid.

My neighbor is prego w/ #4 and has had three c-sections and talked about feeling the same way as you.... feeling as though she checked into a hotel and then left with babies she didn't "know and feel" like she wished she had. Oddly she and I are both due the same week in August and she mentioned that she would be keeping a journal this time... that she was going to write letters to the baby throughout the pregnancy... and she felt this way she'd feel more connected to the baby after the c/s. Maybe you could do this, as well? Buy a beautiful journal...fill it with letters to baby...talk to baby about your emotions...the ups and downs.. the things you look forward to and the things you fear. Perhaps this would help you...

I know we're just getting to know one another... but I will be here with you through the next 8 months and after this new babe has arrived... and my arms are open to you... to offer support through any struggles that may come.

honestly it bothers me that a dr. can tell a women she can't even try to birth her baby with her vagina. how is that right?


it sounds like you mamas are preparing already and in a good mind set. you are stronger than I, that is for sure!

I can understand the UNconnectedness. I didn't have that problem right away after my c/s but after ending up in the hospital again with severe complications from the c./s and not being able to see/nurse ds for a week I definitly had this problem then. it's the worst to look at your baby and have no feeling at all, just a numbness. what helped for me was lots of skin to skin contact and just laying in bed alot and nursing.

Unfortunately c-section is not always an option for all women, and if something were going on that a c-section is the only safe option, then I'm happy I do have that option available to me.

This is why I am choosing to have a midwife for my delivery, and couldn't just go it alone. So that an objective person is here, should something be happening, even if I don't want to accept it. Does that make sense? In the end you have to make the choice that is safest for your baby and yourself.
