Hi Nicole - sorry to hear about Will's gas... that's a stumper. The most obvious ones also inc. wheat/gluten, rice and soy... so you may want to try a 5 day elimination diet - for 5 days no rice and see if there's a difference, if not, then elim. wheat/gluten for 5 days and see how that goes. I know that the real way to do it is like 3 weeks, this would be looking for indicators...if the signs look god with no soy, then do the full 3 weeks... kwim? GOOD LUCK!!! andy

good morning mamas (at first I wrote goo morning, lol)
nothing new here. my uterus and baby just keep growing. I had been avoiding the out of breath feeling I got with the other babies because it was low enough not to press on my diaphragm, but now it's happening. Makes me feel super out of shape.

Mar- congrats on getting through your talk!!! I'm glad to hear it was a success. Now you can get on to birthing your baby, right?

Jess- thanks for the nice comment from your dh . I'm not feeling all that attractive- just OVER IT!

Jessica- the mural is AMAZING! wow! That is really cool. I hope your kid appreciates it in the future. Nice going grandma!!!

andy- watch that ice!!! falling isn'ta good reason to go into labor!!! ouch! didn't you say you have a massage tomorrow? hopefully you can work out any kinks and stuff you might have gotten from falling. I hope you get your peace adn quiet today!!!

Nicole- Will might just have gas because his GI sys is still maturing. I hate to see mamas taking lots of food out of their diets. We tend to always blame ourselves first.... and so many moms will start cutting out foods and then barely eat anything but have to produce all that milk! It's insane. If you don't have a history of allergies in the family, then it's not so likely. If you or your dh does, then dairy is the biggest culprit for stuff in babies. If you don't eat it..... maybe caffiene?

We have a friend visiting for the night and we might go back to the beach this am. It's been so nice here and hot, and why not? I am just idlling at home..... really, I shouldn't complain. One of the other mws is waiting on her daughter to have her 1st babe. Babe was due on the 5th and they were sooo counting on having the baby then or even before because she (daughter) is getting married in a few weeks- ack! they were hoping to have at least a 6 week old at the wedding.....

Okay, so I got the cards and beads ready to go this morning, nearly 2 weeks late! So be looking for them. I forgot to mention in the card, that I chose those particular cards because of the pattern. Not only are they cool, but they are good for newborns to look at. They are black and white, so they should be stimulating to kiddos who can only see black and white.

One funny note, my DD saw the beads and thought they were candy. She tried to eat one and spit out saying it was "Gucky!" Made me chuckle.

Malama: enjoy the beach. I am so jealous. For Arizona, it is cold, even by my standards, and I was born in Wyoming!

Hi Mamas

Wow, I can't believe it's already Sunday! It sounds like everyone is holding up & many of our babies seem pretty content to stay where they are ~ I prefer to look at this as a sign that this is a really content & patient baby

I had a very teeny bit of mild contractions again at bedtime last night, but otherwise Baby has been really quiet and sleepy. Right now he/she seems to have a bit of an afternoon wake period, and then a bit later on in the evening, but otherwise pretty snoozy. Maybe Baby's preparing for the big day and getting lots of rest... now why is it that I'm not doing the same? Somehow I tend to find myself staying up way too late. Silly mama.

Jessi, the mural is *gorgeous*! What a talented grandma!

Nicole, so cute about your DD thinking the beads are candy. What a disappointment that must have been for her! DD loves when the beads arrive, and always says "Oooooh! A bead for the baby!" She thinks that this baby is pretty lucky to be getting neat presents already.
I'm sorry about Will's gas! When DD was a few weeks old, we found that she had quite a bit of gas and for us it turned out to be related to a bit of a foremilk/hindmilk thing. Breast compression REALLY helped and made for a much more contented little girl! We were so lucky to be living in the same City as Dr. Jack Newman practices. Wow, that man is amazing. Our family doctor had worked with him at one point in the past, and joked that everyone used to say that Dr. Newman wished he had his own breasts :LOL

Andy, glad you didn't hurt yourself on the ice! Winter can be a tricky thing when your center of gravity is a bit off, hey?

scatteredtribe, I got your bead today! Thank you so much I'm getting quite the nice string of beads going!

I'm definitely enjoying the perks of having my folks here today! Right now my Mom is making lunch, and my Dad is busy playing with DD. Nice lazy time for Mama! DH is also taking advantage, and having a bit of an early afternoon snooze. Hmmm.... how long CAN they stay??
I'm hoping (fingers crossed!!) that DD goes to bed as per usual tonight at 7ish, and that DH and I can take in a movie. She's still probably not feeling comfortable enough for us to go out when she's awake, so it's better to wait until she's in bed. It's been SO long since we've gone out, just the two of us... what a treat it would be!

Hi everybody-

Jessi- OMG! That mural is amazing! What a wonderful thing to look at everyday

Nicole- I think the gas is pretty normal the first coulpe weeks. If he's not colicky its probably just his GI tract maturing, or maybe he's gulping the milk? Do you have a fast letdown? Also, I know Violet gets uber gassy if I eat even one peice of cheese, so I have to avoid dairy like the plague - and tomatoes, apparently. My family has really bad allergies though. If you don't like the mylicon drops, I've heard gripe water, and warm baths work really well.

The mothers milk tea is yummy, but there are other things that will boost your supply better, mama...Blessed milk thistle tincture, fenugreek capsules, and brewer's yeast capsules are the best, IMHO.

Ummmm....what else? Baby has her days and nights mixed up, so thats been fun. Boys had fevers yesterday, gave them some homeopathic belladonna, and they broke right away - god I love the stuff!

Andy- I hope your ok from the fall. Take a nice bath tonite, hopefully you won't be to sore tomorrow. I wish I could come and give all you sore preggo mamas nice massages - ain't gonna happen, so you'll just have to come visit and get one in Hawaii!

Lisa- Glad dh is going with you tomorrow

Ok, typing one handed is a pain in zee arse- gonna jet!

I guess I hadn't considered that his GI tract is maturing. I do have an incredibly fast flow, though, so I know that he gulps sometimes. If anyone has seen the movie UHF (the one with wierd Al) there is a scene in it where Kramer from Sienfeld tells a kid who is a gameshow winner that his prize is drinking from the firehose. (It is funnier in the movie, but sounds bad written down). Anyway, DH says that everytime I start nursing and Will pulls off and gets a shot of milk right in the eye or forehead. Its really funny in a sad kinda way.

DD had colic, so we never knew what was gonna set her off. So far, the gas appears to be managable with mylicon, but I did eliminate chocolate for several days to see if that was it, which is wasn't, thank goodness. I guess, I will just wait it out a bit longer and see what happens.

As for the Mother's Milk Tea, I am only looking for a little boost, nothing dramatic. I want to be able to pump some milk off, since I have a big meeting that was scheduled before I went into labor on the 26th of Jan. I have to leave the baby with my grandmother, so he is going to get breastmilk that way. My mom was encouraging me to just do formula, but I have a real problem with that, since I really don't want him to get used to a bottle to much, and I don't want him to have formula at all, if I can help it.

Thanks for the encouragement. I really appreciate it.

Nicole
