SOMEONE I know lost her mucus plug this morning...

Does this mean I am next? Or is this that 2 week signal thing? I AM an experienced mom, but I have never gone INTO labor... 2 inductions...

Also, the puking thing I had stopped, (thank god) but the doctor was really concerned about it. She ran a blood test and if it comes back positive, I will have to be induced this week. Liver something? Anyone know?

The mucus plug thing does vary from woman to woman - it could mean labor is about to start or it could mean it's a couple weeks away... but that said....

With my first two boys I lost my plug and was in labor within 2 hours!!! With my 3rd I didn't really lose a plus, I sort of had bits of mucus for a couple weeks before labor began (sorry if that's TMI!)

My best friend that had her baby this weekend - it was funny the morning before she went into labor she was very anxious to deliver and I asked her if she had lost her plug and she said no. Later that afternoon she said "Wow - ya know that question you asked me this morning? Well I just lost it!" A few hours later... baby!!!!!!!!!

But ya know... it does vary...

WooHoo Gretchen.. thats progress of some sort, even if it means you don't go into labor for a few days....

Morning all!

Mucus plug. I don't recall having lost mine with DS (and for a humorous aside, my childbirth class instructor thought mucus plug was too clinical or something, so she always insisted on calling it "baby gel". Really I loved her and it was an awesome class, but baby gel? ) I went into labor via my water breaking, so after that, I didn't pay attention for any mucus leaving. I just tried to get contractions started via nipple stimulation.

I'm sorry to hear about all the mommies with insomnia. That is the one thing I don't have :knock wood: Sometimes I feel almost narcoleptic at how quickly I can fall asleep given even remotely right conditions (read: laying down!) I'm really worried about my ability to make it on less sleep once the little one gets here.

Now, instead of insmonia, I have food issues. I don't want any. I don't want to cook any for my family. My shopping is for crap because I can't focus on meals well enough to make sure I am shopping completely. I make it through the store with way less in my cart then I used to have and for the life of me I can't figure out what I haven't gotten. And my shopping lists are useless. I used to make menus, etc but I went to look through the menus I knew I sat down to write last week and it was mostly filled with blank spots. Totally unlike me. And I know I was at it for hours when I sat down to do it too. I'm just so freaking tired. I have got to get by the natural foods store and grab Floradix. My iron came back ever so slightly low (like 1 point) and I want to be sure that isn't it, you know?

Oh boy I don't know. I think we might have another baby on this thread pretty soon!!!!

(I lost my entire plug all at once and 6 hours later had 2 babies! I have read that losing the entire thing at once vs. bit by bit is different though in terms of correlation with labor.)

Well, I sure am excited! I haven't had any contractions today though, so I decided to stay at work... (the students are presenting today anyway, so I can just put my feet up...)

I still haven't even packed my hospital bag... I would LOVE to go into labor naturally, was just discussing it with the doctor on Friday, too.. but still, I think I am only 35 weeks, so waiting awhile is FINE WITH ME.

Oh how fun.. more babies... whee...

So, I really think I scored well at my showers this weekend... For the most part people followed directions
I got some big stuff -
My Amby baby hammock (oh its wonderful, it looks just like the pictures)
My nice, wooden high chair (from bru)
and high chair pad
Eddie Bauer Diaper Backback thingy
Boppy
Safer Bather cushion
moniter w/2 recievers
vibrating bouncer
sling

then some smaller stuff
diapers - 5 doz flats (3doz of which were arranged in a diaper cake that just amused the hell out of me, it was totally cute. I have pictures, and will post them in the next few days), 5 kissaluvs contours, a dozen ubcpf's, covers, rubber pants, pins galore...
blankets - 1 crocheted, 3 fleece, 1 fuzzy korean blanket, 2 recieving blankets
Outfits - just a couple, ppls are very funny about wanting to get gender specific colors and the fact that we're not finding out is really weirding people out
Baby wipes - disposable, but i will use them on something.
Breastpads
Cash and gift cert's for diapers (for which i just shopped. oh me oh my)
Some plastic toys, some stuffed animals
Ear thermometer, baby health care kit (with medicine dropper, nail clippers and such in it)
Wash bag to keep baby socks from getting eaten in the washing machine

i've got some $ to go spend at BrU, we need to decide whether we want a changing table or the convertable car seat more. Probalby get a changing table and hope for more gift cert's when we announce baby's birth so we can get the car seat, which we shouldn't need for a few months anyway....

Luckily, i have PILES of gender neutral newborn clothes... and plan to do serious second hand shopping after baby is born.

Well, I'm sorry everyone is so uncomfortable and had such terrible insomnia. I didn't sleep much either, rooming in with Hazel in the hospital. It was nice to get to be with her for 24 hours in a row, but of course, I missed Melanie. And the bad news...
she failed the carseat challenge again. Which means that they will try her again on Thursday. If she fails that, we're looking into special flat bed style carseats. We may just go ahead and buy one so that she can take the test Thursday in that. I'm not sure how I would handle her failing again on Thursday, I think I might just lose it. So I'm off to search the web. I'm feeling pretty much like crap right now. It was really hard to leave today. Think good thoughts for us on Thursday.

Wow Joy, it sounds like you scored! How wonderful that people went through the extra trouble to get the special things that you really wanted. (like the amby baby, the cloth diaper "cake" - how cool! - and all the other cloth diapering stuff and the sling)

I'm glad it was a fun time!

When I lost my mucus plug with Chloe I had been in very intense active labor for 4 1/2 hours and lost it when I got to the hospital. I had Chloe 30 minutes later. BTW, my water didn't break until she was coming out. It's considered to be lucky and called "Being born in the call". I'm interested to know how this labor will go. We will be heading to the hospital earlier this time as the hospital is an hour away. I remember feelin every rock in the road and was just trying to get through each contraction not trying to think that it takes an hour to get there. I also want to drop Chloe off at our friend's house before I'm in sooo much pain. I don't want her to worry.

Joy: You really scored at your shower!! Good for you!

I don't think I'm having a shower this time. My family doesn't live here and I don't want to suggest it to my friends here. Plus, with us having another girl we are pretty much set. I'm not too upset about it though. I don't have time for it anyway. Chloe's birthday is on the 24th of this month and I have to plan the party, get her 2 year pics made, get all my projects done, etc.

Well, I better go finish my lunch. Take care everyone!

Belly rubs all around!

Lousli: I'm so sorry to hear you didn't get to take your angel home today I know you were really looking forward to keeping her. Take care of yourself. We are all keeping you guys in our thoughts.
lesley - i'm sorry about the car seat test. i say go ahead and get the special one for the next test. i can understand that you're anxious for her to come home. it sounds heavenly (in a non-sleeping, missing mel sort of way) to have roomed with her last night though. i'm sorry that you then had to leave her this morning though. i hope you get a little rest today and tonight.

Lesley and Hazel

I agree that you should order the car bed and just do it in that so you can take your precious bundle home.

fyi, you'll need to be careful about using slings and baby seats for a while at home too. I'm sure that's stating the obvious, but her positioning will be important to pay attention to at all times. BTDT.

Ack, Lousli, how did I miss that Hazel didn't pass the car seat test again. I am so sorry to hear that. I have some friends who got the laying down car seat for their full term newborn and liked it, if that means anything.

Thanks for thinking of me ladies. I appreciate the hugs. We're not having much luck with the car bed. We found it, and it is sold 3 places online, direct from the maker, Baby Universe, and Burlington Coat Factory/Baby Depot. Unfortunatley, BCF only ships UPS ground (10 days or more), Baby Universe has overnight, but processing could take several days (they're calling us back), and the manufacturer has a voicemail system and we can't get through to a real person. Hopefully, someone will call back. The website, annoyingly enough, says that the product if often needed immediately, so they guarantee overnight shipping.

Anyone live near a Burlington Coat factory IRL? The one near us doesn't have it in stock, but maybe one of the stores would ship it to us even though the website won't.

ARGH. Frustration.

Hey I live near 2 Burlington Coat Factories, so let me know if I can help out at all.
I guess you could pm me too, not sure what would be the quickest way. I am so sorry that she failed the test again, it must be eating away at you all.

Ok, so can anyone tell me what this pain is. It twinges almost in my groin/hip socket area when I walk. I had the same pains with DD, but would love to know what is causing them. I have also had the fun stabbing type pains in the cervix area. Who gave that child a knife to play with??

Got to go and get dd and dh out of the bath, way past her bed time!!
Have a great evening ,Jasmine

Jasmine,
Maybe you could call them and see if they have it in stock and could ship it? I'm looking for an Angel Guard premature infant car seat/bed. I don't know, probably a long shot, if their website won't ship overnight...

Lesley, I hope Hazel passes on Thrusday. I know this has been hard on your entire family.

If you have time, please check out my post on I'm Pregnant re: small baby, and growth restriction. I had my appt. today at 36.5 weeks, and baby only measures 33-34 weeks on everything (head, stomach, legs, ect.).

I lost my plug on Wednesday, and Friday had conx. 2-5 min. apart for over an hour. Luckily they slowed up, but they are still kicking my butt :LOL I guess I shouldn't be worried, as baby would be fine if born right now, but I just can't get used to the idea. I'm not ready, bags not packed, carseat still in the basement needing to be cleaned up, ect. The kid has no place to sleep yet, either. I need to get to work!

Well, hope you all sleep well tonight!
