How do you CLW w/a biter?

Well, my adorable, enthusiastic 3 yr old has started biting my breasts. And I don't like it one bit (hehe).

Anyway, I am determined to let him wean himself, which, could be another 2 yrs as he is still very into his na-nas. But when does it come to a point were enough is enough? And what do you all do (GD speaking) for biting breasts?

Oh, and yes, we do have a new baby, but this started while I was pregnant, so I don't think it is 100% related to the baby.

Teach him to not bite.

If he bites, end the session right then as calmly as you can. Don't laugh, don't make a game of it. Don't let anyone else make a game or laugh about it. Try to not react hugely either, because reaction could be what he's looking for.

Also, at his age, you can talk to him. Tell him biting hurts mommy. Tell him that if he doesn't want to nurse, he doesn't have to, but if he hurts you while he nurses, then that means he doesn't want to...I hope that made sense.

Its been better the last week or so, but sometimes I'll get bit every other day.

When is he biting?

I remembered after posting that DD used to bite me semi-regularly, but it was invariably when she was falling asleep and slipping off. She'd clamp down to hold on, ouch!

I had to pay attention when she was nursing down to sleep to unlatch her before the clampdown occurred. If she fought it, she was still too awake, and I'd have to wait a bit, then try again.
