I keep thinking any day now my nipples will get sore and wondering when my supply will drop. Anyone know the average time for these things to happen? I think I'm about 5 weeks along now. Do you go by lmp? I actually feel like my supply may have increased a bit lately. With my pregnancy with ds, my breast barely changed at all and my nipples were never sore. I also didn't leak a drop, so I worried that I wouldn't have enough milk. Joke was on me, of course, because I leaked all over the place for over a year. I'm actually noticing that the other side leaks when ds nurses in the morning now. just curious and trying to enjoy easy and pain-free nursing while it lasts...

Some moms never experience nipple soreness during pregnancy. Some moms also never experience a dip in supply, or if they do it's not by much. At times during pregnancy, some moms even experience an increase in supply occasionally during pregnancy, which may be what you're experiencing now.
This is the third pregnancy I've nursed through...during the first one I didn't have any nipple soreness, during the second I did, but only for a few days, and this pregnancy my nipples are ever-so-slightly sore, but only bother me when one of my nurslings nurses for a loooong time.
Maybe you'll get through this pregnancy without sore nipples at all!!!

I am not sore at all yet either, but I am only 4 weeks. I already have heartburn and am tired as hell, though. And of course ds won't take a long nap - just 45 minutes for poor old mom. I don't know about my supply. My boobs don't feel any different. How would I know, given that ds is only 10 months and can't talk?
Lilli- did you test early? I know we found out around the same time and I tested late. I always get confused on calculating weeks/months. As far as supply goes, I'm going by the extra gulping sounds that have returned when Desmond nurses and by the recent return of leaking after I had almost stopped.
Amanda- For some reason I thought everyone's supply dropped (in varying degrees, of course). I had an inkling that I might escape soreness, but wasn't counting on it. I never did have sore nipples with my first nursling, even in the beginning. We shall see. Good to hear that they aren't givens, though.

I know I O'ed on Dec. 27th. My charting programs give me the date. If you know when you ovulated, then subtract 3 months (Dec - 3 = Sept.) and subtract 1 week. (27th > 19th). If you only know your last period, subtract 3 months and add 1 week.

I'm glad you posted this topic. The next day after dh and I did the deed, I noticed leakage which hadn't happened in a very long time. I had my very first "symptom" then, but didn't really count on it since it was way too early. But I thought it was weird too that I was leaking like crazy when I've always heard that you dry up when you get pregnant. I was thinking that maybe it was nature's way of filling up the nursling before the fall.
I'm also glad to hear that not everyone gets sore nipples. I haven't experienced that yet either, which I thought meant I wasn't really pregnant. But maybe I'm one of the lucky ones.

Laureen- Ack! I hadn't thought of the idea that maybe this was a bit of a spurt before the decline of milk production. I guess we just have to wait and see. Ds is 2 years old, so I'm not all that worried about less milk for him. Perhaps we are both lucky with the soreness!
Lilli-Thanks for the info. That would make me due around the 14th since I'm not sure of O and you on the 20th. I tend to lose track of the weeks, though. I guess I'm a little over 5 weeks counting from Dec 7 (lmp).

So sore already.
Maybe you guys won't experience sore nipples. That would be great. I'm 5 weeks along now too, and already sooooooo sore. I've been trying to limit my little guy's (7.19.02) nursing somewhat. Of course, I feel guilty, but it really hurts. Though cutting back doesn't seem to make it any better. Anyone know if it the pain will clear up? Or will it last through the whole pregnancy? Can't complain too much, as I'm thrilled to be pregnant again. But it would be nice if the pain would subside somewhat.

Many moms who experience sore nipples when nursing during pregnancy find that the soreness does eventually go away. Some moms experience soreness for only a few weeks, some for a few months. I hope nursing gets better for you soon!!!
