Do you feel ready for baby?

I tell ya, there are so many differences with being pregnant with the second baby. There aren't all the milestones and such that there are with the first (baby showers, childbirth classes, etc.) and it is just starting to occur to me that I am getting close!

So do you all feel ready for the baby?

I have a lot of things ready. His nursery is almost ready. Even though we cosleep I like to have the nursery all set and ready to go for the baby. It just makes me feel so good- did the same thing for DS #1. I have the clothes washed and put away. The diaper changing station is all set and ready to go. I just have to hang a few things on the wall. Oh, and we bought a minivan last weekend- so I am relieved to have that done (and I am LOVING driving my family truckster ).

As far as things to buy...the big thing is the Arms Reach cosleeper we have decided to purchase. We also want a double stroller, but we are waiting on that one until after the baby is born.

I have some things that I want to get done around the house- organize a few closets, arrange everything in our new filing cabinet with personal information and business information. Oh, and I want to get our taxes all ready to go before the baby is born too.

I wanted to get a cross-stitch completed and DS #1's baby book updated before the baby arrives...but I'm starting to realize that this probably won't happen. :LOL

Oh, and I want to get lots of meals cooked and frozen so that we won't have to stress about that after the birth either.

Okay...so what do YOU have left to do?

I actually blogged about this the other day. I haven't made much progress on it, but I blogged about it, thus creating a list of sorts. That counts right?

Here is the list from my blog:

Buying both cloth diapers and wool to knit covers. Oh, and of course, knit those covers. Yikes.

Buying the Sit N Stand stroller. We are actually going to do this a touch earlier then we really need to for the baby because we need a stroller to bring to Disney with DS and we may as well buy one that will be useful for awhile.

Order domperidone from New Zealand (long story but suffice it to say, it would be nice to have on hand if I need it)

Buy a new sling.

Buy a diaper bag. This is more important than you realize because I do not own a purse and haven't in years. First I used the diaper bag backpack from Lands End with DS and then when he was old enough to not need it anymore, I just tossed my keys and wallet in my pocket. I would do that now, but maternity clothes are notoriously devoid of pockets.

Get in an array of herbal stuff for both baby and mommy, including wipes solution, sitz bath herbs, etc etc.

Pick up cosleeper from friend who borrowed it and buy the extender legs for it since our bed is taller than the one we had with DS.

Buy Bi-O-Kleen and do some baby laundry.

Buy dresser/changing table so we have somewhere to put aforementioned diapers and newly laundered clothes. If we manage to buy this, it will be the only dresser we have in the house. Sad, huh? We used to have this awesome built-in in our dressing closet in LA and when we moved we no longer had a place to put it, but in our last apartment, we had a closet full of shelving that really made a dresser unnecessary. This place? We really do need a dresser although the closet is okay with shelving. But not if we have to add another person's clothes to it..

This was typed over the weekend. What have I accomplished? I looked for BioKleen where I used to get it. They don't carry it anymore. I also bought Floradix for my iron levels, which didn't make it to my list, but needed to be done anyway. I also asked my midwife for a list of stuff she wants us to have on hand at the birth (we get our birth kit next week) and started making a grocery/Target/Costco shopping list.

Pretty ready... this is our first....
I've got the nursery done... the new changing table/dresser (cuz i need a place for all these cloth dipes i've accumulated) is going to be put together tonight... I've been shwoered, i've had my blessingway ceremony.... All the baby clothes are washed in baby detergent... we have everything except the nourishment part of the list the midwife wants us to have...

We missed our home visit today cuz MW was at a birth, hopefully we'll catch it on saturday.. and Saturday is 37 Wks on the nose.

Really hoping this kiddo follows family habit and comes a few weeks early.

Well, he has a few diapers and some onesies. Isn't that enough? LOL. Seriously, I'm so behind on preparing for this baby. I have stressed about the birth b/c it's our first homebirth and I wanted to make sure I had everything I needed for that. It's very weird having my sixth baby. I can just see myself digging out the clothes and washing them while I'm in labor. Hey, I'll probably have the most help then, right? I don't plan on leaving the house for at least two weeks after he's born so he really doesn't need much. I do have my Maya Wrap all ready to go. :

I think I'm pretty much physically and mentally ready for this baby. Thankfully I didn't need much since my son is only 17 months old and I have everything from him still out and not packed away. I got some new blankets and layette gowns and jammies the other day and that's pretty much all I needed. I do however have to get my butt over to the storage unit to find my box of brand new Wonderoos for this baby and it's irking me that there never seems to be time to get over there. I also have 2 new bravado bras coming and a dozen new hemp inserts for my CDs. I love fluffy mail

*I* am ready! The baby, however, could still stand to grow for two or three more weeks.

We have everything we really need. I have a pretty lengthy list of things I'd like to get done though.

get pediatrician
Groceries stocked
buy a nursing bra or two
get house really clean (nesting has to kick in again, right?!)
diapers washed and organized on changing table
buy some diaper cream and baby oil and baby wash (I have a J&J gift pack I'd rather not use if I can help it, and a trial size set of Earth Friendly Baby products)
lavender oil for crockpot
new water hose for birth pool
pack "just in case" hospital bag

I just ordered my diaper bag from Land's End and I think that was the last bit of "gear" we needed. We're going to wait a while to buy a stroller.

FEEL ready? Yeah, I FEEL ready.

But...

Just realized today that we don't have an insert for the carseat for a newborn. Better get one of those, huh. :LOL (We didn't have a shower - doing it after baby comes. I'd better go through and really think about other stuff we might be missing.)

Haven't decided on a rocking chair. Weny by Toys R Us today and saw a $100 glider I liked better than the last time I was there. Do I get that? Do I spend $500 I don't really have on a rocker/recliner that will last longer? I've done this back-and-forth thing for months

I ordered some cloth diapers - will wash as soon as they get here. We have a variety coming and will decide on a system after trying a few different ways. Ordered a sling Got the birth kit, towels, etc. Need to cook some food and freeze it. Need to stock the pantry. Need to get a nursing bra, I guess (darn, I forgot this)

Can't do the nursery b/c the house isn't finished yet. :LOL

It actually feels good not to be stressing over stuff. I thought I'd be really worried about having everything just so, but I seem to be pretty relaxed about it. I hope this keeps up

How fun to think about! Up until this week I hadn't done much. DHs aunt was over sunday and asked where all the baby stuff was :LOL I have done alot this week, cleaned out the crib (it was a toy holder) so that I will have a place to lay baby down while takeing car of DD, washed all my cloth diapers, baby clothes (still gotta do the blankets), brought and washed the car seat, bouncer, baby sleep positoner, ect. Still on my To Do list:

Set up pack-n-play
get and figure out what to put in moses basket bedding wise (Ideas welcome)
get my pp stuff ready (I need some lavender and cypres oils for sitz bath)
make some of those crotchcycles someone mentioned on the chat a few weeks ago!
buy a new sling
buy a new bag (will probably wait to see how much stuff I really need to haul w/ kiddos)
get DD a new "big Sister" present (ideas?)
Rearrange all those toys out of crib (DD and baby will share a room)
Finish up tax stuff (We have a small business w/ 13 employees, I do all paperwork)

I also need to get my meals together, but I'm not thinking of that yet. My 2 main goals this week were to get paperwork tied up (90% done), pack bags (done), and get carseat ready (done) and anything else baby will need the first few days (still working on a few things).

I am about as ready as I'm gonna get. I will have DH put the cover back on the infant seat tomorrow and I will strap it inot my car sometime in the next 3 weeks. I have to clean my car out first. I need a better way to transport DS's toys and such.

Sigh... We haven't decided if we are going to set the crib up in my room or just let the baby sleep between us again. I really don't care as long as I don't have to THINK about it. lol.. it's all very stressful.

Oooh, Free Thinker- you reminded me! I need to get DS a "big brother" gift too. Thanks for reminding me.

Any ideas anyone?

What a great thread! I had no idea I have so much left to do, and so little time to do it!

As for a big brother gift, I was thinking for my DS a Thomas train. (James, actually) DS has a Thomas obsession, and I know he'd love a new train. Plus, they're very small and easily packed!!
