Law & Order... what the ????

Did anyone see last night's episode of L&O? I haven't watched the show lately because I don't really like most of this cast (Oh, Lennie, Mike, Rey... how I miss you!) I especially don't like Elizabeth Rohm who plays ADA Serena Southerlyn -- what a horrible actress! Anyway I did tune in last night to see her last episode - she's leaving the show to focus on her movie career, blah, blah, blah.

At the end of the episode the DA fires her and in the last 2 seconds of the show she says, "Is this because I'm a lesbian?" WTF???? This has never been mentioned before and they just throw it in like that? I thought it was weird (nothing against her being or not being a lesbian)... Perhaps she'll be back in the future, suing the DA's office for discrimination. And where's Jack? Just letting her get fired and not backing her up???

I was surprised that she said she was a lesbian because I always thought she was a robot.

I was shocked too. The week before I also was because I did not know that the guy who had played Lennie had died.

:LOL :LOL :LOL :LOL :LOL I agree. I always thought she was a terrible actress. Maybe I can start watching the show now that she's gone... although I don't like the new detective (played by Dennis Farina).

I don't care much for the new detective either. Just not the same.

I am getting all of my Law and Orders mixed up! Which girl is she? What does she look like?

I love the show and was horrified! Can't imagine why they would do that. It didn't fit in with anything. We never know much about the people's personal lives but its because it just doens't matter who they are. I can't figure out what it would be about. I agree she is a robot. I also can't see any shock value as it was just the last few seconds of the show.

I came looking for a thread on this topic and had to laugh, those were my words, too... 'WTF????"

I was completely blown away by that ending. Very easy if you ask me. And yes, there has never been a discussion about her being gay.

My husband mentioned in the middle of the show that the actress gave an announement months ago that she would be leaving the show....so, I guess it must have been mutual? I mean to pull her out mid season is pretty dramatic.

I'm sure they'll bring her back for some cases though, seems the way they do it.

And yes, she seemed wooden to me. And I think there was some plastic surgery since her first season.

I have been watching Law & Order for so long... that I actually missed Michael Moriarity.

by the way, the producer of the show Dick Wolf...they always say his name says it all.. He is both.

She is blond. She works with Jack McCoy on the original L&O.

Here is her picture: Oh, honey, what are you wearing????

Another one: E. Rohm having a bad make-up day???

And another: Am I wearing too much bronzer???

She looked basically like this on the show: Elizabeth Rohm

I still am confused about the big 'surprise' ending. I spent this morning trying to remember there EVER being any minute allusion to her sexuality, but couldn't think of anything. I am a little disappoointed that that was even thrown in there- and it did seem tacked on. It added nothing to the show.

We can all look forward to seeing her in Miss Congeniality 2 with Sandra Bullock this spring. If it were my career, I think I'd stick with Law and Order.

OK, I just realized why they threw that lesbian twist at the end. They want all of us to watch the re-runs in syndication to figure out -- were there clues??

Just like when Claire was killed off we learned that she & Jack were together. And then people had to watch the previous episodes to see if they could tell they were a couple. (There used to be a website devoted to Claire & Jack and lists BY EPISODE any clues that they were in fact sleeping together!!!!)

So it's all about profits in syndication.

In an MSNBC.com interview, Elizabeth Rohm says this about her departure:

Quote:
Q: I’ll admit to being a regular watcher of all things 'Law & Order'. As a result, I have little or no social life, because it’s on all the time. But I haven’t really seen any clues that your character is about to leave, so my prediction is that something big is going to happen. Enlighten me.

A: That’s very interesting, because there are two camps. There are people that think that they’ve seen clues and there are people that have seen none.

Q: Oh no, I’m the stupid one.

A: No, Sam (Waterston) doesn’t feel like there have been any clues. ... I’m kind of somewhere in between. I know what happens when I leave; then I wonder if there were real moments that led up to that. And I think that there have been a few, but I think it’s going to be surprising.

Q: Do you get into some sort of trouble here?

A: Of course I get into trouble! It’s no fun having a big party if you don’t get into any trouble. And a departure, I guess, is a party!

How manipulative. There are like 5 reruns of L&O on each day. Those bastards are now going to make me want to tune in and try to catch subtle hints.

L&O: SVU is still my favorite though.

I know! Before we got rid of our cable I was in heaven!

It's times like these that I wish we still had it--I missed the episode

We Tivo'd it and haven't watched it yet........thanks! Just kidding. I knew by coming into this thread I would find out something about the episode!

I can't believe they would throw that out there like that. It's funny because we were watching previews for the show and DH says, "what did McCoy sleep with another one". Guess not! I can't wait to watch it and see DH's face when he finds out!

Based on how her character was I would guess that she will come back but as a defence attorney. She often seemed on the opposite side as Jack.

why was she "fired"? i admit i haven't watched the show in ages but i've seen some of the episodes with her. hmmm, lesbian eh?

claire and jack were lovers?! i thought i'd seen when she was killed but i don't remember that! [btw, i searched and here are the claire/jack clues: http://www.geocities.com/Broadway/2503/jcepisodes.html ]

Basically she was fired for having a differing opinion. The head DA said she is more an advocate than a prosecuter and that she would be better off finding a job in that area.
