Bummed that Extended Nursing is gone

Obviously I haven't been here in a while, I don't know when this board changed but I just wanted to post that I am sad that the EN board is gone. Now I have nowhere to ask my questions. I am currently working on weaning my 2.5 year old and it is more my idea than hers so it certainly isn't child led. Bummer that I have no where to go

Couldn't you post it on the Breastfeeding board?

could we get a sub forum in the breatsfeeding forum ... nursing a toddler and a newborn are very different things

I guess I could post about it in the BFing board but I really liked having a place for Moms nursing toddlers, I don't expect to get the same information/support from new moms.
I don't understand why the EN board had to go

I agree with you kerikadi.
I don't know why the EN forum or the getting started forum were dropped.
Creating the CLW forum should not have had anything to do with eliminating other forums that many found useful, and helped people find what they needed.
Lumping it all together in one "breastfeeding" forum is a big step backwards, in my opinion.

It is true that its different. Just like discipline is different for a toddler and a teenager yet the Gentle Discipline forum is all together.

The good thing about being together is that the ENers will be more likely to see the new nursers problems, things they may have experienced and can offer help.

Define EN.

Societally it's beyond a few months or maybe even weeks.

Biologically it's beyond about 7 years.

How many here were truly doing EN when you consider the issue from the biological angle?

Weaning is part of breastfeeding whatever the child's age, so surely someone can help you on the general breastfeeding forum.

If you want more than one option, breastfeeding.com has a Weaning Forum.

I've never been there, but I'm sure the advice will be for doing it gently, with love, which no doubt is what you have in mind.

well I wouldn't necessarily call it "extended breastfeeding" but I think a forum that is for mothers nursing babies beyond infancy is useful. The CLW forum is very specific and only for moms who are choosing to allow their child decide when they are ready to wean. There are many moms who nurse for a long time (years, like 5, 6, 7...) who still feel that they determine the end of their nursing relationship and therefore are not CLW. They need a place, too, which used to be the "EN" forum.

Yeah, it'd be great to have more feedback in the "getting started" forum, but to merge it all together makes it harder for everyone to find what they need. If they were both subforums of "breastfeeding" then the threads would still be in the same place but better organized into categories.

I think most of us would agree that nursing past a year was ENing but if the term ENing is too contraversial maybe a 'Nursing Your Toddler' would be a nice board to have. Any chance we could do that

You can feel welcome to post it in Questions and Suggestions for consideration.
